If he earns a spot, he earns it. But I would prefer to see him go down. He appears very mature mentally, but is still a boy physically. If he is playing, the other team is dumping it in his corner every shift, and pounding him into the glass, until he figures out how to overcome it. I just don't see the point of putting him through that.
Saginaw won their division last year - are they expected to be good again this year? I would hope if he is down, that he is on a good team that has a good playoff run. That and the WJC can add a lot to the value of another season in the CHL.

I’m fully aware. It wasn’t based on any type of reality, other then I have a gut feeling and wanted to type it out on this message board.

Hey you know what? Parekh’s gameplay during camp and pre-season will dictate where he plays. I trust Craig and the staff to do what’s best for Zayne, they always have why change now?
He will prove when he’s ready, whether that’s this year or next, I don’t see any reason to worry about it. Let’s not forget Makar was raw coming out of an inferior league and went straight into the playoffs and blew the flames away and never looked back.
The kid will dictate where he plays based on camp and pre-season, I see no reason to panic. If he’s ready then he’s ready, if he goes back then there’s no issue for him to go dominate the ohl again.
I’m going to trust Craig and the staff with this.

Haha fair. I am very surprised they went with Parekh over Buium after looking at some post draft reviews. Such a departure for the Flames.

Was one of the top +/- players in the CHL. He excels at both ends compared to his peers.

Here’s my take on Buium.
New Jersey passed on him. So did SJ. Philadelphia traded the pick that could have landed him. You can also add the Flames and the handful of teams that picked before them.
One thing I think worth taking into consideration is Buium is represented by the same agent as Cutter Gauthier. I’d bet the way he ghosted the Philadelphia Flyers is a warning sign to other GM’s around the league about how this particular agent is willing to go about his business. Buium is probably seen as a flight risk to most teams.
Th Flames made the right pick. No question.

Yup, that’s kind of what I was wondering as well. Interviews went poorly or made it clear he wanted to go somewhere. I was less sure once Minnesota took him though haha. Could just be Conroy flexing his philosophy as well.

To be fair, Guerin doesn’t really seem to care about what players want, so even if Buium wanted a spot that wasn’t Minnesota (or any of the teams that passed on him), I could see him taking him anyway.

I don't think sending him back to junior damages the relationship. Does he dream of being a great player on a ####ty team or does he dream of being a key contributor to a team that wins the Stanley Cup? I bet (hope) it's the latter.
He and the Flames both have some work to do before that's a likely event.
Having a young player who's expected to be great on a team that struggles every night can also be damaging. I think sending him back to junior (give him the 9 games if he earns it) is probably best for his development and for the Flames rebuild.

No brainer. You immediately mortgage your future for a run at making the playoffs.

You really believe he is the only piece they need to be a contender?

It’s statistically improbable that the Flames didn’t pick any American players by chance. I think it was a deliberate strategy.
