A+ to me, would have been pulling off a trade for Lindstrom or Demidov. And then doing most of what they did today. But that's just me.

I'm super happy with their draft as is.

I'd say I like this version of the Flames more
The Flames have had high ceiling guys before.

Rasmus was a high ceiling guy who had nutrition and fitness issues

Mangiapane was a high ceiling guy who put up serious points in junior

Kylington was a high ceiling guy

Fox led the US Under 18 team in defensive scoring in his draft year.

So they did go for some high end guys and mixed in some bust big guys. But their biggest problem was that from 2015 through this year they had an organizational philosophy to trade all the picks. So less opportunity to draft high end guys.

I gave it an A.

Would have been an A+ if we drafted Miroslav Satan Jr...

Loved the draft. I preferred Buium over Parekh at 9, though I do really like Parekh. Time will tell and hopefully we got the better player.

Really hard to not like the rest of their draft too.

Will definitely be interesting to track how all the defensemen in the first round pan out over their careers.

I really like Parekh for so many reasons. Hes such a likeable kid with an unbelievable ceiling. We could have a superstar in the fold.

An A means you did everything right. So I can see why people wouldn't give that out. Not in love with the Gridin and Hoskin picks. The rest are A+ to me.

Gridin was a guy I was keeping an eye on for the 2nd round, so I was a little apprehensive seeing him go as high as he did, because I really wanted Basha or Mews with the Vancouver pick. Funny how it all worked out though.

I really warmed up to the Gridin pick now though, especially after hearing him talk. I love his attitude. He is also on the younger side of the draft and the fact he led his team and the whole USHL in scoring is actually pretty incredible ahead of guys drafted ahead of him like Hage and Connelly.

Haven't read the thread but feels like they kept to a BPA draft and got value players. C remains a huge position need but that's something they can address in the next year or two. This was the year to get a top D and they did that with Perekh. Hopefully they address that in future years.

Giving that there was no comment, I assume he/she rated it a D because their top pick was an outstanding D

Great job by the Flames here. If you told me we'd draft Parekh, Basha, Mews, and Misa with our first four picks I'd be ecstatic. The fact we got those four prospects while snagging Gridin and Battaglia with two of those first four picks is just unreal.

Don't want to get too ahead of myself, but it sure feels like it's exciting times ahead for Flames fans.

And while I acknowledge that scouts play a huge part in the draft, Conroy has certainly shown a knack for spotting talent as I have said many times before.

C depth still needs to be addressed in upcoming drafts, but I could not help but give this draft an A+ (especially after comparing this draft to most in my lifetime).

If you're going to draft a couple big, physical low ceiling guys, you might as well do it late in the draft. The really frustrating part of the Flames draft strategy previously was they used their best draft capital on those types of players. Not this year!

Hagens and Frondell seem to be tracking at the top of the draft next year who are both C’s. grab one of them, McKenna the next.

Ryabkin and Misa too.
