I don't see how people can still worry about this looking at the Flames draft history of the last few years. Only Honzek and Kuznetsov are really big out of the higher picks. And he had other good attributes. Morin, Coronato, Zary, Pelletier, Poirier, Wolf, Suniev, etc - none are prospects where you thought they were chosen because of size.

I was worried because of the Honzek pick and a new direction from Conroy. They drafted big last year. That’s not the case this year .

Conroy is clearly a skill guy, it is great to see.

He was one of the guys I was hoping would still be available at 28, so thrilled that we got him in the 3rd round. There is a lot of potential there.

Honzek was a terrible pick, but Conroy really wasn’t responsible for that. I’m much more encouraged by this draft than last year’s which may or may not have been Treliving’s last of many FU’s to the Flames.

While he probably wasnt the best selection at #16, Honzek isn't a write off yet and we're a ways yet from that territory.

Hopefully people are eating crow in a couple seasons.

Even Bahl and Pachal both being 24 is exciting. Dmen can take time to develop and some figure things out unexpectedly, love having a variety of player types in the system.

coolest thing is the influx of RHD prospects. Those guys always seem to be rare ... and then Conroy goes out and gets Brzustewicz, Parekh and Mews. Ridiculous depth at that position.

Now let's do the same with centers

True. I like them a lot as depth pieces.

Pachal was a really nice surprise for a waiver pickup.

Been rumored for a while that he will be going to the NCAA next season.

That would be huge for Mews’ development.

Rumour is that Michigan is dipping into their NIL war chest and bringing in some serious talent including Gavin McKenna and eventually Landon Dupont. Will be interesting to see how the CHL reacts to losing their stars. Will also give the Big Ten hockey programs a massive advantage.

Landon is not known for his studious ways.

Would he be able to use the NCAA loophole and potentially wait out the Flames so he could become an unrestricted free agent?

so if mews or jamieson went to college next season (2025-26), then the calculation for their rights would default to the flames having them until aug. 15, 2029.
