No one here knows what the Flames are offering Kylington. He should accept whatever they offer out of a sense of loyalty?

He may test free agency to see if the market values him more.

Lol selfish move by Kylington after the Flames just paid him millions to do nothing other than work on himself and get healthy.

Maybe he just wants a fresh start? Or to live somewhere where they don't care about hockey and people wouldn't recognize him.

People don’t come back after testing free agency?

If he is not signed then he is gone

You’re right, it is a business but in Kylingtons case the Flames didn’t treat it like that. I’m sure there’s some way the Flames could have applied to get out from under his contract but they didn’t. It feels a bit gross tbh.

I’m pretty confident whatever the Flames are offering him is probably fair market value given he has only played six months of hockey in the past 2+ years.

No, sir. It's a bummer but life goes on.

lol. Still shows people have a long way to go with mental health. Just tell yourself he was injured like Monahan and feel better about it.

He could just be testing the market to let it set the value. Like what Zadorov did. Sometimes it's the easiest way to do it.

I struggle with mental health as well so I fully understand some of the challenges thanks.

If my employer continued to pay me for a full year while I worked on my mental health, you can bet your ass I would feel a sense of loyalty to said employer.

Eh. The company I work for is very helpful with people going through mental health issues and they don’t expect those employees to stay on the cheap. It’s just the right thing to do. Makes me like the Flames org more.

What makes you think the Flames were expecting him to “stay on the cheap”?

If some team will give term to Kylington and the Flames won’t then he should take the term. We will see how it shakes out July 1st

He’d be signing with the Flames if he thought the contract was fair. My guess is he thinks he can get term and the Flames want a short term contract. Both positions make sense. If he doesn’t get term in free agency then I wouldn’t be surprised if he circles back to the Flames.

*Conditions: 1. If CGY’s 2024 1st round pick is between 20 and 32, MTL can take that pick instead. Result: Pick was not between 20-32.

Scenario: In the event CGY receives FLA’s 2025 1st round pick:

1. If both CGY AND FLA’s picks are NOT top 10, MTL will receive the better of the CGY and FLA 2025 1st round picks. Result: TBD

2. If CGY’s pick is top 10, AND FLA’s pick is NOT top 10, MTL receives FLA’s pick. Result: TBD

Scenario: In the event CGY does NOT receive FLA’s 1st round pick:

Sub-scenario: CGY’s pick is NOT top 10

1. MTL will receive the CGY pick, and

2. If FLA’s pick is not top 10, is a better pick than CGY’s, and was transferred to another team due to prior conditions, MTL will also receive CGY’s 2025 4th round pick.
Result: TBD

Sub-scenario: CGY’s pick is top 10:

1. If CGY’s pick is 1st overall, MTL will receive CGY’s 2025 3rd, and the better of CGY and FLA’s 2026 1st round pick. Result: TBD

2. If CGY’s pick is 2nd to 10th, MTL receives CGY’s 2025 1st round pick. Result: TBD

FLA's 1st round pick is lottery protected for 2025

So the nightmare scenario is that the Flames' 2025 1st round pick is 2-10, the Panthers miss the playoffs and they win the draft lottery. As a result, the Panthers keep their 2025 1st round pick and the Habs get our 2025 1st round pick (which is 2-10 overall). Which would be the most Flames thing to have ever happened.

Yup. I am totally prepared for the Canadiens to be picking 2nd overall with the Flames pick but it’d take a lot of bad luck.

Like what anybody in any other position is encouraged to do in order to maximize their income.

Just gotta hope Florida makes the playoffs again next season. They are basically going in with the same roster so you would think they can at least grab a wildcard spot.

Yeah. I way too lazy to look but I don’t think a cup winner has missed the playoffs the following season too often.
