I don't mind the Flames taking a chance with later picks out of the first round on a guy like Kiviharju but stay away from spending a high pick on one. Too many red flags.
You don't like Helenius, that fine. But the bolded statement is pure nonsense.

Dang this draft is already pretty crazy for movement.

No it isn't, not at all. Just because you are playing against men does not mean that quality of hockey is better.

We have so much draft capital and cap space that I think shapes up to be a very exciting day ahead.

I don't know, I personally would be more than fine packaging that late 2nd round Dallas pick with the 28th to move up to let's say 22-23 range if someone we love has fallen.

Saying Junior & NCAA hockey is much tougher competition than Liga is certainly a bold statement

As I said in the draft thread a couple of buddies and I were talking to Joe Thornton today via Skype and he will make San Jose's first selection tonight.

Yes. Most players in the USNDP end up playing in the NCAA but they don't have to.

Junior league players are putting 1.5 PPG up at the top level in junior leagues. You really think they would be doing that in the FEL? Nobody does that, whether it was Barkov of Rantanen in their draft year or even the established pros who max out at PPG.

Flames Lanny Should Make the Pick

Just a thought, and maybe not the 1st one to make it here, but wouldn't it be great to see Lanny, the Flames most famous #9, announce the #9 pick for the Flames this year

I think he doesn’t go until the late second or third

I don't understand moving up when you have no clue who is available at that spot. Unless you are going off the board.

Even Conroy mentioned the same thing yesterday.

The only way this makes sense to do this right now is if they are quite certain one of the people just ahead of #26 was targetting a player they wanted.

Just means your scouting group has a tier of players to that mark, and they’ll be happy with whoever is there.

Russo reporting the Wild are willing to trade down from 13. But I am pretty sure they won't want to drop all the way down to 28.

They are also willing to trade the pick outright for Rutger McGroarty
