Wow. That is a serious hometown discount. Nice for Nashville.

Great deal for the preds. Askarov is one hell of a trade chip.

I don’t think they do that. They had Saros backup/split with Renne for 5 seasons. I imagine they’ll do a similar thing.

From Thomas Vokoun, to Pekka Rinne, to Juuse Saros... Over 20 years of stable #1 goaltending.

8 year deals are a complete risk. It's a tradeoff in that he took a couple million less per year, but will Saros be the same guy 4 year from now? History shows us great goaltenders can drop substantially after and injury. Who about their prized goalie prospect? I assume he'd be on the table?

He’s probably moved in two years when they have full confidence in Askarov.

Not surprising at all. AAV is quite low.
I do wonder what will happen in a few years with Askarov.

That's weird you just said recently that toronto would go after him if marner waived.

No, I said Toronto would try to go after him if Marner waived. I have refuted claims by other guys like Frank Seravelli all along from the deadline on that Saros was on the block. Anybody can go back and see that. I have also said that Marner would not waive to go to Nashville anyhow.
