Don't forget Pelts is waiver eligible this season too. So I bet Conny had that factored in too.

I think you can count on that activity on July 1.
That’s fine. They won’t lift us out of the bottom 5 of the league.
In Conroy and the tank we believe.

I guess for a late 2nd, I would have taken that chance, but not something i'm too concerned with in any case.

Oh man I hope we sign a handful of 1yr deals and continue the flipping for pick/prospects.
Burn a year, who cares

That is an unreal return for 1 year of Mang at 5.8.
Hard to see the value from a Caps perspective here.
More ammo in the chamber now

Amazing.
Conroy is not forking around. So much cap space to weaponize.

Mang will probably help the Capitals' quest to have Ovechkin break the goal record, and they will probably be able to flip him at the TDL for similar value + retention. I think it makes sense for them.

He was way overpaid. Getting an asset back without retention is a good deal. I do not see him getting 30 again in Washington.
Will miss him though. Will definitely miss saying "Eat Bread!" Everytime he scores.

I thought Conroy would wait til later and retain so salary wasn't an issue, but this is pretty impressive if no retention.

Havent wanted a guy dealt more on a long time.
Just far too inconsistent and looked so disinterested too often.
Had some great moments as a Flame but maybe the most "meh" player in a long time who got paid really well for one good season.
Decent return is just the cherry on top.

I wonder if Eat Bread's good friend will want to stick around after the trade. I think Rasmus may be an excellent player to trade now as he will most likely want out after his buddy is moving on. Also, I don't believe his value will ever be higher than it is now
I'm surprised they got a 2nd for Mangiapane after the year he had and with a cap hit of $5.8 mil. Great work Conroy!

Over pay on some good 1 year deals. Tanev comes to mind if he would.

He could not quite live up to the contract, but he was a good Flame and a great pick in the 6th round. Great value by Conroy without retention or a warm body back.
