With 28th pick, I would like to see Flames go after someone with high upside potential, and obviously this includes potential risk, A guy like Kiviharju. I don't pretend to know enough to say it should be that guy, but a guy like that.
Let's go

I can't see Silayev falling to #9. I know we all have fears of his floor being Zadorov, but watching his KHL highlights looks like create-a-player in NHL 24. He's bigger than everyone and he skates just as fast. He shuts down forwards, gets the puck out the D zone really well, and chips in offensively. He's only 18 years old and I'm sure his physicality will only improve as well as all facets of his game. Any team in need of a D will take him ahead of Iginla.

I'm ok with trading up from 28 (using 28+ to get into the teens or something).

I don't think it's worth it to trade up from 9.

But I'd also much rather we move roster players for more picks than package picks together to move up. At the start of a rebuild I'd rather get as many prospects as we can.

It does seem unlikely. Particularly with Parekh, he's a "love him / hate him" type, and those guys tend to go early.

The guy he has picked for the Flames at 28 is exactly the type of player I hope they don't draft. A solid guy who might someday develop into a decent 3rd liner.
I'd like a bigger swing with that pick, please

Given the price the Sharks paid to move up three spots outside of the top 10, I don't see the Flames moving up from 9.

Both would be good, but I think the highest upside/reach for D-men here would be Alfrons Freij.

I've been thinking about the Flames moving up and CLB keeps coming up to me. Flames have danced with Waddell before. I wonder if they can do it again. They seem like a group that's be happy with what they could get at 9 if the Flames made a solid offer .

4 would be Lindstrom of bust I think though.

I disagree with a lot he ranks here but to me it feels like Iginla to the Flames is as easy a pick as Celebrini to San Jose to predict. The only team I have heard rumoured to be in on Tij is Montreal and that is mostly fan base chatter. From what I have been able to glean they have him fourth in possible forwards available behind Demidov, Lindstrom, and Catton in that order.

Agreed. Not interested in Vanacker.

Would much rather Beaudoin or O'Reilly who he has at 30 & 31.

But if we take a forward at 9 I'd predict we balance it out with a D at 28.
