I really hope all you predicting Iginla will be gone before 9 are dead on. I can't see it though.

The more I read about some of these kids and watch their interviews it seems like a draft where I'll be happy with pretty much anyone. So many great options. I guess that's what happens when you draft high though

If Demidov AND Lindstrom are gone they will pick Tij.
I feel that OTT UTA and SEA will go D.
The wildcard is CLB. Can't figure why they wouldn't go D but rumored to take a forward?
CLB and MTL are always the most off the board drafters.
Anyways it'll be interesting to watch!!!

Think it ultimately comes down to what Anaheim and Columbus do because Montreal will most likely take a forward. And their list is rumoured to be Demidov>Lindstrom>Iginla. With Celebrini and Levshunov going 1st and 2nd, it will take at least one of Anaheim or Columbus passing on Demidov or Lindstrom. If that happens, I think it’s close to a 50% chance the flames get to draft Iginla. If Anaheim and Columbus both take the forwards, I think it’s more like a 5% chance Iginla will be available for the flames.

If Anaheim and Columbus both take defencemen… the draft board will be wide open for the flames to get Iginla IMO.

Just heard on Flamestalk that Berkley Catton is a Flames fan, and would love to be picked by Calgary.
That's good enough for me, when Tij isn't available.

The names Catton hangs around with when it comes to draft year production is a pretty big selling point.

Don't care about his size. He's a center. If they don't get Lindstrom or Helenius, he's it.

And the more I think about it, if they're gonna take a D man, swing for the grand slam and take Silayev.

What I liked about the Tij media scrum was when Steinberg tried playing up the Flames angle and Tij kinda poured cold water all over it by saying I didn't really have a team I wanted to play for growing up. When he did that Steinberg turned to the City of Calgary angle and Tij very politely and professionally responded "Uhhh I don't know, I lived here until I was 6 years old".

Tij just didn't bite on anything about CGY or the Flames.

Absolutely. Especially if the scenario develops where it means they could get both Iginla and Catton. That would be amazing.

That’s my dream scenario. Especially since they’re good friends. Would love to see those 2 play together for 10+ years in flames colors

Iginla going before 9 means another good player makes it to us, but if he makes it and we select him, believe we are getting a great prospect regardless of the family ties

I know many want the flames to get one of the top defencemen from this draft and that would be good too but if the flames could get Iginla and Catton from this draft by trading someone like Andersson… they might be able to do it while keeping the Vancouver first round pick. Then potentially try to trade up with that pick to get a defenseman like Jiricek. Now I’m being really greedy though. I want all the picks. Go Conroy! Make this an exciting draft for us fans!

Berkly Catton’s draft-year NHLe of 42 is better than Zach Benson’s draft-year NHLe of 40. For me, that’s significant. It doesn’t necessarily mean Catton is a better prospect than Benson. For example, Benson is 4 months younger (relative to his draft year). But I think the players are comparable. And that makes me want Catton for the Flames, because I really wanted them to get Benson last year.

(I still want Buium or Parekh more, but Catton would be terrific!)

That would be best case scenario but I just don't see it as I think most teams ahead of the Flames will be taking defensemen after Demidov and Lindstrom are picked. I actually think if one of those teams pick a forward it could be Sennecke not Iginla. I just think him being available at 9 puts the Flames in an awkward situation where there will be immense pressure to take him even if scouts like another player or two available at 9.

Parekh/Buium/Catton please.

I want some offence, no "two way" players for me. Defensive play can be taught, and is easier to find in the later rounds. Get another pick and grab 2 of them lol.

Really hoping Parekh drops to us, he's my first choice. I have no interest in grabbing a winger not named Demidov, we have Wolf - let's build from the net out.

Too lazy to post the tweet, but JFresh has the Flames passing on TIj, Catton, Yakemchuk, and Dickinson to take.... Kiviharju at 10th overall.

We should 100% trade up to grab Barley Borczsycshevski, That guy is going to be great.

Well that just seems like a troll.

Who knows, some of JFresh's takes are... interesting.
