I'm not against obtaining an additional pick. But I wouldn't trade assets to move up from 9. There will be a good player there, and probably as good as one at 5.

If they're going after Lindstrom I'm all for the attempt. Can they get there to get him? Probably not.

On the contrary, Andersson’s game is actually quite coveted.
Not saying Utah would give up 6 for him, but he’s basically the most cost effective top 2 dman that could be available.
Justin Bourne was so high on Rasmus that he said he would trade Marner 1 for 1 if he was Brad.
I think us fans sell some of our players short.

Agreed, I’d rather use those assets to move up from 28 to 10-20.

Lindstrom is exactly what the doctor ordered for the Flames . As much as any player in this draft, he's the vision of the Flames up the middle they want. Big, fast, angry, skilled. Injury concerns aside, he is the dream pick.

Lindstrom or Demidov if both were available?
I'd go Demidov

Maybe you could do a 3 way Trade with Utah and Toronto.
Utah gets Marner
Toronto gets Andersson
Calgary gets 6th OV.

That actually makes sense. Probably needs the Flames to make an add going to Toronto, but it seems to fulfill what each team is seeking.

To Utah: Mitch Marner
To Toronto: Rasmus Andersson, VAN 1st round pick (28th), Cole Schwindt, UFA rights to Oliver Kylington
To Calgary: 6th Overall
I think Toronto gets more than Andersson for Marner, for sure.
Flames snag one of Lindstrom, Helenius, or Catton and Iginla and then dive into the UFA pool for a shorter-term veteran on D to help the younger defencemen.
Leaving Toronto out of it also makes it easy:
To Utah: Rasmus Andersson, 28th or 41st overall
To Calgary: 6th overall

I think the add goes to Utah; the 6th overall is worth more than both those guys individually.
Andersson has two years left on his deal whereas Marner only has 1. Plus top pairing defenseman are more valuable than one dimensional scoring wingers. Marner's cap hit is a negative, not a positive.

I think Toronto certainly needs an add. You may be right though and if Utah needs an add as well then the deal probably doesn’t get done.
Edit…It’s an intriguing idea though. It seems to check everyone’s boxes.

Utah has some RFAs they would probably move as well.
I still want Barret Hayton on the Flames.

In other Hurricanes news, Teuvo Teravainen is going to market. Not interested in him from a Flames perspective but he should be a good fit somewhere.

Damage where are you seeing these rumors?
Necas to Buffalo, Marner to Utah. I haven't seen these anywhere

LeBrun dropping crumbs on Buffalo being the team that's tabled a 1st and has the canes ready to move Necas.

For clarity. Are those supposedly separate rumours or is that suggesting Buffalo is offering 11th overall for Necas?

Lebrun said a 2024 1st round pick is on the table in a package for Necas, and he believes it's Buffalo. Seeing as Buffalo does not have another 1st in this draft, that means 11th OA is the rumored pick in play.

I was ready to give up on hockey entirely right up until Florida finally sealed it but that first trade might push me back into it.
The 6th OA is not something to overpay for.
