It's available on Spoitfy, under the big show with Rusic and Rose. It's not the same without Loubo though.

Well it's good that Flamesnation isn't our management.

Leaving Helenius or Catton on the board and taking a dman would be a crime. We're in dire need of talent at the C position.

I’m not mad if we pick Dickinson, but definitely disappointed if Catton is there. Helenius is also a guy I am starting to consider over Dickinson. Silayev and Yakemchuk are likely dropping.

Dickinson gets my award for being the most overrated top prospect.

They absolutely need a #1 D long term which they haven't had since Gio. it's equally important to the #1 C. If Parekh is there at 9 he is possibly the BPA

Buffalo isn't married to their pick at 11. They said during the winter that they feel they should be in an open window, and rebuilding through the draft is done, with the cornerstone of power and dahlin.

9 and 11 could land Catton and a falling Dickenson. That would fill for need and BPA.

I'd be curious to know why you say that?

I like Dickinson's toolbox. A good skater/ puck distributor with D first tendencies and a cannon of a shot. By all account in excellent physical condition, coming up from a program that promotes excellence.

Many question the hockey IQ. During the FN mock draft video the guy who picked him for CGY said that Dickenson was a mess in the mem cup in his defensive zone. Had an amazing offensive tournament but he gets lost in the D zone. That's a long term development thing that needs to be ironed out. Also said his floor is 2nd pairing. So that's good.

I don't mind and of the D men. And if the Flames are as high on Yakemchuk as a few CP insiders have reported, I don't see how Dickinson or Silayev aren't upgrades on Yak. I'd rather either than Yak. Both are among the youngest and Yak is pretty much the oldest.

Silayev > Dickinson in that scenario, for me. But, IMO unless Iginla, Demidov, or maybe Lindstrom is there at 9 you go for a dman this year. We will get other cracks at a top forward in the next 2 drafts too.

we could also grab a C with the 2nd first rounder. Hage, Luchanko, Boisvert and Beaudoin might all be in striking distance.

Coming out of this first round with a C and D just makes sense.

Of course, wouldn't be upset if Tij or (more unlikely) Demidov drops to us.

Because IMO - there's a player like this in every draft year.

Darnell Nurse
Noah Hanifin
David Reinbacher
David Jiricek
Jamie Drysdale
Philip Broberg

IMO- either draft in hopes a player turns into a true #1 - Makar, Fox, Q/L Hughes, Dahlin etc or just dont bother and take one of the high ceiling forwards.

NHL GM's love taking these "high floor" Dmen that over the long haul - aren't terrible but when your team doesn't have high end talent- I would rather not make those picks.

So pick Buium or Parekh ... or pick a forward - Catton/Helenius.

I would draft Silayev with the understanding that what I am drafting will end up becoming a very, very good shut-down guy that you can throw out against anyone - skilled fast guys and big power-forwards - and he will be able to handle them. Having that ability in your defence corps is extremely valuable. Imagine Tanev, but a better skater, and more physical. That's worth 9 at least. That's my logic in drafting him. If he ends up putting up points as well (which most scouts believe that he has in him, and some don't), then it is simply gravy. If I don't feel having that is as valuable as picking more of an offensive guy, then I would pick the offensive guy. Or a forward.

I don't envy Conroy here being at the tail end of that top-end of the draft, and probably picking between 2, maybe 3 different guys that will probably still be on the board. They are all so different. Either way, I just have faith that whichever guy gets selected, he will be a key piece of the future core. Maybe he develops into a franchise-level player, or he just stays as a valuable core piece. I will be happy with whomever is selected (except Eiserman - please don't select guys who refer to themselves in 3rd person! LOL).

As for Montreal drafting a D - it would surprise me. I would assume that they go BPA. However, don't they already have a really good deep pipeline of D at the moment? If I am them, I will be taking BPA regardless, but if there is a tie, I am taking a forward - Lindstrom, Iginla, Demidov if he falls - whomever they have ranked at their spot. They would be a team that I look at going forward rather than defence.

Going to be the most exciting draft in years, even ignoring where the Flames are picking. Just so much more unknowns in terms of surprises in the draft order, and the possibility of way more trades and movement. Bettman better have some throat lozenges at hand - I think he is going to be doing a lot more talking than normal.

As we get closer to the draft… I watch more and more mock drafts that have both Iginla and Lindstrom off the board before Calgary gets to pick. Too bad because those are my two favourite players in this draft class outside of Celebrini. Would love it if one of them somehow slid to Calgary at 9. Sounds like Celebrini and Levshunov are locked in at 1 and 2, respectively. And it sound like Montreal is taking a forward and their likely list goes Demidov>Lindstrom>Iginla. The best hope is for at least one of Anaheim or Columbus to select a defenceman (likely Buium, Silayev or Parekh). If that happens, I think Montreal will go with whoever is left between Lindstrom or Demidov. Giving a slight chance for Iginla to slip to 9th overall.

What I hope happens:
1. Celebrini
2. Levshunov
3. Buium
4. Lindstrom
5. Demidov
6. Silayev
7. Parekh
8. Catton
9. Iginla

What I think will happen:
1. Celebrini
2. Levshunov
3. Demidov
4. Lindstrom
5. Iginla
6. Buium
7. Parekh
8. Catton
9. Dickinson

I’d take Silayev over Dickinson at this point, but only based on your lists above.

don't know why, but I just have a gut feeling we'll draft Silayev.

If Silayev hits, it's the biggest hit on D since Makar. That's the Intrigue with unicorns afterall, getting the maximum out of the pick you could ever dream of. A polished 6'7 or 6'8" 220 lbs best skater in the draft D man that all of a sudden has an offensive game? Ooooof.

Plus I've been thinking a lot of having the Ying to McDavids Yang in the BOA. The answer to McDingus.

I don't know if McDavids skating could overcome a Silayev that can keep up with him. Close him off, hit him, take the puck and skate away on him.

The four guys I personally am looking at for our pick are Iginla, Parekh, Buium, or Catton. I’d be very happy with any of them. I think it’s possible they’re all gone by 9 but unlikely.

If the Flames passed on one of those four guys for Dickinson I’d be pretty disappointed.
