Since I kicked off the Fleury debate, just to reiterate, it's about the number still not used all these years later.

Like him then, now or hate him then, now, think he is/was misunderstood, or unfairly treated, or has gotten what's coming to him, whatever combination of feelings, I just think 25 years after said player has played his last game, and with very good reason, unbeknownst to any of us, has not gotten his number retired by now by the organization, that ship has sailed, and it should be open for the taking.

Back on track about Markstrom and his IG comments, again seems genuine and not paying lip service. Calgary is a great city and the organization treats everyone really well, it's a shame the facilities put us well behind other teams when it comes to arena comforts players in the late 90s expected, nevermind 2024's players.

Soon...

To be clear, i think Fleury is a tool as are his views. And i don't think his jersey should be retired. I used to be such a fan when i was a kid though.

I just love when the anointed smart people determine who's ideas are a bad influence on others.

He has a huge reach on the net and all the anti vax truckers think he’s a hero. I’m not the one who said “brainwashed”. But he clearly influences people.

Thoughts and prayers. I hope you or anyone you know didn't get influenced.

Well, I do know a couple people that travelled down that road and have not re-emerged. I guess you don't. Lucky.

Fleury has over 300K followers just on twitter. They ain't following him for hockey insights.

Clouseau: That man is crah-zee!

Doctor: Ah! We do not use that word round here.

Clouseau: Well, what word do you use?

Doctor: Now now…

Clouseau: Well he is very ‘now now’, I can tell you that!

Oliver Kylington took leave of absence for personal reasons.

Fleury and millions of others have had their brains poisoned by their own social media feeds, and it has left them very now now indeed.

Conroy must like Bahl a lot, Toronto's offer included their 2024 1st.

Maybe included full retention and a cap dump coming back, knowing how Brad operates.

do you buy Tre's argument that Toronto would have to pay way more because of "politics"?

They are pretty comparable. Both included a 1st. Boston gets a 2024 while Calgary gets a 2025. Youd think Calgarys pick will be higher but its unknown. One included Bahl the other you get rid of 4 years of Korpisalo and a weaker prospect. Ullmark is also UFA. All things considered those are pretty comparable deals.

23rd in 2024 vs ?? In 2025. Didn't someone post Calgary thinks the top 20 is really good in this draft and after is wide open? Maybe rolling the dice with the 2025 Jersey pick had more upside to them.

The sweetener from Toronto is the question also.

Doubt it was politics. Didn't they open this up to more teams to shake a better return loose from NJD? Which was the team Markstrom agreed to waive to.

Is it known if Markstrom waived for any other teams even? Seems like that was all quite hush hush after the debacle mid season. Maybe Markstrom only wanted Jersey. Really good young team and less competition in net.

Why did you say get rid of? Boston is taking on 4 years of Korpisalo, with some retention by Ottawa, get a weaker prospect and a 1st. Flames clearly made out better then Boston did.

Toronto would have wanted max retention. And I don’t see any player on their roster who they could trade that fits.
