The Flames got the better deal but only slightly IMO

You are just obnoxiously negative.
Flames package is better in all respects of the the deal.

Taking on a goalie contract of 3m for 4 years, which is considered a salary dump?
12m over 4 years or 4m over 2 years.
Slightly? Man what an awful take.

Yes, a 25 year old center who had 10 points last year is the same as a 23 year old dman who had 11 points last year.

Yup.
Even if Bahl tops out as a third-pairing defenceman, that's worth more than a fourth-line centre who's two years older and has probably topped out already.

Nah , most of your posts are worse.
People are too biased to make an honest observation. I said the Flames deal was better. The center piece of the deal is the 1st pick. The Flames pick can be better but it’s a year later. Bahl and Kastelic are dime a dozen fringe players. Korpisalo for 3M is slightly overpaid maybe by 1M but not much. In the meanwhile the Flames took a hit for 2 yrs for Markstrom. There is not much difference if you look at it closely. It’s not like the Flames were getting the 10th overall and bluechip prospects or Mercier like many of you were claiming
Also for the record, I said many times Conroy did a good job trading Markstrom

So? Both are bottom line fringe players . 6th dman vs 12th forward. Take your pick of bad. Both are thrown in.

And for the 8M extra, they got a back up for 4 yrs. That’s about what back up makes. The Flames pay Vladar 2.2M.
Both teams took similar cap hits in different ways

It’s Boston so fully expect Ullmark to be mediocre in Ottawa and Korpisalo be a Vezina finalist in Boston.

I would actually argue that Vladar is overpaid for what he brings. IMO a backup should be paid between league min and $1.5M. Unless that backup has/had a couple of seasons over .910sv%.

Korpisalo crapped the bed last season, but in 2022-23 he put up these numbers:
CLB 28 games, .913 SV%
LA 11 games, .921 SV%
Which tells you not only that he’s one season removed from a strong season, but that (like most goalies) he plays much better behind a team with solid defensive structure.
This season Ullmark posted .915 SV% in 40 games.
The Bruins are banking on the gap between the two being much smaller than a lot of people are assuming.

The thing with Korpisalo is the 2022-23 season is a strong outlier. He's posted an .890, an .877, and an .894 in three of the last four years.

Playing for Columbus.
I guess we’ll see. But I expect around a .910 SV% from him next season.

Ullmark had a .913 (in 20 games), a .905, a .915, and .917 in Buffalo. Korpisalo has above a .910 in only 3 seasons and he's been sub .900 in 5.

to be fair, he'll turn 24 in a couple days.
But yeah. Bahl = Kastelic is a terrible take. Bahl is a year younger and is arguably already an above-average third pair defender. Kastelic might be above replacement-level.

Korpisalo is a good goalie who played on an Ottawa team with poor defensive structure. Unless Ottawa improves the defensive game I expect Ullmark to look worse than he is. The way I see it , goalies feed off the defensive play in front of them while forwards and defence feed off the play of the goalie. When everyone is in sync and on the same page then everyone looks good. Otherwise everyone looks bad starting with the goalie. Especially the goalie.

Ah, you're just saying that because he's your cousin.
Ba'alzamon, Ba'alkevin. It's obvious.
