The Oilers will probably be contenders next year but they lose almost all of the extra cap that every other team gets because of Connor Brown's bonus overage.
This was their best shot at the cup.

Best thing about this loss is that this was likely their last real chance to win a championship with this roster. They had one of the easiest paths to to the finals in decades and everything pretty much went their way. They'll probably make the playoffs again next year, but I highly doubt they'll go this deep again, and I'm guessing the western conference bracket won't be as easy again.
