Savard to Toronto was about as secret as it was with Treliving after he quit the Flames. The powerplay wasn't great last season so I'm not losing any sleep over this.

Is Savard a good powerplay coach? I have no idea.....he didn't have much to work with here.

Leafs were 24% this season (pretty decent) and then fell to <5% in playoffs.

Is any coach good enough to make a power play good when there are no good scorers on the team?

The Flames' power play was bottom of the league the first half of the year. Once they added Kuzmenko, it improved tremendously. Talent level matters. If it didn't, teams would hire nothing but minimum-salary scrubs and spend most of their money on coaches.
