Gotta laugh at Oiler Fans pretending that they deserve any success.

Absolutely. Legendary players do legendary things. Who knew.
The big question Flames fans should be asking is how to get these types of players in Calgary. And the answer is, you draft as high as possible. Let's hope the Flames finally get their shot at someone like the names on this list in the next couple years.

Actually when I dug further I found out that what actually has happened is the Ken Holland reached out to the Draisaitl camp about preliminary contract talks and he was refuted. That information comes from a much more reliable source than Spector.
I still think when Edmonton's two superstars said "Cup or bust" at the start of the year media they were telling everyone that this is the last time the Oilers would have a shot at winning a Cup with these two guys playing together. As I have stated before I am certain McDavid is moving on, I think Draisaitl knows that as they are great friends and probably has the same agenda.

Bragging about all the Oilers accomplished and coming here humble taunting flames fans is like the bum on the end of my street winning the lottery and lecturing me about hard work and bragging about his lambo while I start work for the 10,000th day in a row.
Yeah right man, you have lots to be proud of... really earned it with McDavid and Draisaitl being gifted to you for being the biggest losers in league history. So bad they changed the draft rules.
Never seen a less deserving franchise win, handed 5 top three picks on a silver platter for being a failing business and still took a decade to get a sniff of success now their fans are acting like they're a franchise that went all the way on their own grit and hard work.

TBH as much as I hate the fans due to cheering for a rival team (and because of their entitlement from the 80s), you can't really argue that in terms of supporting their team they are some of the best in the league.
Did they deserve McDavid after have Gretzky and the rest in the 80s...not a chance.
But in terms of supporting a bad team they generally showed up and supported that team season after season even when they were terrible.
TBH we look at our own organization's reluctance to a true rebuild...and the worry is that the fan base won't support the team and sell out the building if they are losing.
But the Oilers were literally the worst team in the league over a 13 year stretch where they had 11 picks in the top 10 over those 13 years. And it wasn't that close (.458 in that stretch compared to .499 for Buffalo).
But really the fans stood by the organization in that time, and it was almost annoying during that stretch that at the start of every season the fans thought "this is our year to turn it around".
Oilers ownership, organization, and management deserves absolutely nothing and are being rewarded for their ineptitude.
And the fans are annoying, and entitled homers that I absolutely hate...but you can't question their commitment to that despicable franchise.

Road teams have won each of the last three game 7s in the SCF (Pit, Bos, Stl). Prior to that the home team won the previous six.
There have been 17 game 7s in SCF history. Home teams are 12-5.
Game 7 of the cup final hasn’t gone to OT since 1954 (Det def Mtl).
Paul Maurice is 4-0 in game 7s.
Teams who have tied the series 3-3, after being down 3-0, are 4-5 all time in game 7s. In the SCF, they’re 1-1.
Jeff Marek just said this is the biggest game in the history of the NHL.
Cousins out for Panthers. Okposo in.

Just in this cup final alone we have 2 #1 overall picks. A couple of #4 overall and #3 overall.
Eichel last year 2nd overall pick.
Mackinnon #1 overall, Makar #4 overall. Tampa had Stamkos and Hedman #1 overall.
Ovechkin #1 overall. We can go on and on, but the best chance of getting one is picking really high. Even the quiet stars like Toews was #2 overall I believe, but Kane was #1.

One thing I'm finding as I get older - I enjoy the highs, but I can't bring myself to get upset about things I can't control.
I have a number of friends and family who are Oilers fans, and somehow, none of them have been dicks around this run. I'll be happy they're happy, even if it's not the outcome I'd want. Having the hatred fester isn't healthy, and as my kids become more of fans, not the example I want to set for them/nor the attitude I want them emulating.
Let it be fun, don't ruin it for anyone else - I wouldn't want that if the roles were reversed.

Yeah, I'm a true Oilers hater, but I can't be super mean to the people I work with who like the Oilers for legit reasons (none of them are bandwagon). Fact is that Calgary is full of Edmonton transplants (for good reason).

I think for me personally and maybe a lot of people here, this is the first time we are having a rival win. We really only have hockey as a major sport here, lots of us are into other sports but we don't live in that city. The CFL is different for obvious reasons.
Maybe if the Oilers had a single player you could actually cheer for, or say its cool they won a cup. It's a really unlikeable team.

2024 has been really difficult for me so far. I've decided today is the day it turns around because either 1) the oilers lose and it's a sign times are changing, or 2) the oilers win, at which point i've definitely hit rock bottom and it can only go up from here.

If the Panthers win this thing I'm going to donate $50 to either Calgarypuck or the Edmonton's woman shelter in the name of Evander Kane. We need some good Juju, although I have no idea how the Oilers have banked so much

I would have more respect for Oiler fans if they posted here win or lose but they dont. It was bragging and lurking after game six Dallas and then nothing in the SCF until game 5 or 6.

A Stanley cup will have to be cold comfort for losing dino7c's respect
