I’d probably do it again. I had a lot of fun growing up had decent parents. Wasn’t bullied.

I this question really is Would I have rather lived my childhood or have been dropped into todays life.

So provided I end up where I end up and have no knowledge that I am going to do something stupid and my life happens the way it did. Sure I would take another 40 years. Living it again is better than the alternative of non-existence.

Let me clarify. You have the same family and meet the same people but that does not mean things can't end up being done differently. Maybe you don't be friends with someone. Maybe you don't ask out that woman when you get older that turns into a bad marriage. What I am saying is you cannot go back and know things that will set you up to be rich. Like you can't go back and buy up stock in Apple, etc...

So you are essentially asking if someone is happy with the random outcome of their lives, or if they'd want to have another go at the randomizer, thinking it might come out better? But in the end you'd never know.

I know I definitely wouldn’t go back to repeat my childhood solely due to my mom’s awful cooking.

I would 100% do it all over again. And not because I want to fix errors or anything, I just have a tonne of good memories that I would love to feel again.

This statement is faulty.

Withoug living through life, how would you know the friends you made when you were young would become a bad influence, or the woman you married would turn out to be a dud?

When you ask people if they would relive their younger self again but saying you will not have any knowledge about any future events is basically asking people if they are satisfied with their upbringing, the decisions they made throughout, and their current lives, and wouldn't mind doing it again.

A year ago and I would have been happy to keep going, but since my dad passed my mom has been terrible to deal with. I'd happily go back and relive everything up until last November. If my groundhogs day was more like going back to remember everything up until just before my dad got sick, then I'd keep going back.

I would re-up on living life from birth to now again. Reading the many posts about not wanting to and the reasons for it make me sad (for others) and thankful at the same time that I was lucky to have a great childhood / teenage years and early adulthood.

So is the question really do you want to relive your life in hopes that today’s outcome is different?

If so I would be a no, I wouldn’t risk what I have today for another round of childhood.

It's a really long way of asking "if you could take a mulligan on life, would you?"

Is that really what he's asking? I'm still very unclear on the question.

Are you saying that other than "things that would set me up to be rich, e.g. stock plays" I would retain knowledge of everything else?

Because if I have no memory of my past life, my 'original' life from which to draw experience and pick and choose changes to make, then it's pointless and I wouldn't bother. If I don't have memories of the original life I had then nothing would unfold any differently than it did before. If I don't have the original memories to "re-live" then I wouldn't know any different anyway.

If you're not allowing yourself to change anything, I think an interesting question would be. "Would you go back in time to be a 'passenger' in your own body to see past events through the eyes of your current self?" It would be interesting but might be a little frightening and definitely frustrating.

I'm with most people though that I wouldn't go back and change anything. Especially if you have kids. You have next to zero chance of having the same child if you change even a second of your past so you're basically wiping any child you have out of existence.
