No, it's a business. All parties know what the players are worth, what the team's cap situation is and that tough decisions have to be made on both sides.

I don't think so, they need that money for Draisaitl.

There’s been chatter he turned down the VAN offer because Boston *wink wink* didn’t interfere but did, I feel it’s the worst kept secret.

According to reports at the time, it was the owner who didn't want to pay.
Not that the Hurricanes exactly let Lindholm walk. They got some damn good assets in exchange, even if they subsequently fooled most of them away.

Last I checked, that was pretty much an even-money bet. Some places now, doughnuts are more than a dollar. Just sayin'.

This was simply excellent asset management by Conroy. Is this the highest price that’s been paid for a pure rental in the last 5+ years?

Rental went for low 1st and B prospects all the time
Difference here is Kuzmenko. It’s debatable if he is an asset or cap dump. So far he is doing alright for the Flames.

I doubt anyone is saving money for the guys in Edmonton, certainly appears like they are all staying there.

Not sure how one can say that Hunter, who was leading the OHL in defensive scoring at the the time and was top 7 in league scoring is a B prospect.

Ok? Lindholm wasn’t traded for a 1st and B prospect so I’m not sure what you’re talking about.
He was traded for a 1st, a B prospect, another prospect, a middle six roster player with upside, and a 4th round pick. Show me a pure rental deal in the last 10 years that had a better return than that.
You can debate the nuances of the deal, whether Kuzmenko is any good, whether the prospect is A or B, but it doesn’t matter. Rentals don’t even go for 1st rounders anymore, this was a home run

There were 2 prospects, one was a B prospect and the other prospect was not a B prospect.

That poster would call Bedard a B prospect if he played for the Flames hahaha. It's his style.

Based on what? The ramblings of Oiler fanboys Frank Seravelli and Mark Spector?

Brzustewicz is better than a B prospect. Easily one of the top 3 prospects in the entire organization. Coronato and Wolf might be ahead, but they're probably NHLers this year.

Pretty easy. Points don't mean a lot in evaluating a player. Very flawed players can put up massive numbers in juniors against boys. A player is the sum of their parts and there are concerns Brzustewicz is an incomplete player. This is why Vancouver was willing to give him up in the deal and not any of their top prospects. If a player didn't have warts they wouldn't be available for trade, their drafting team would sit on them.
I have no idea why people get so bent on having a prospect called a B level prospect. A B level prospect is still a good prospect, just with holes or limiting facts in their games. Every single one of the Flames top prospects are B level prospects. We have a lot of them. Doesn't mean they are bad, they just have limitations that could prevent them from making the NHL. Size is a problem for a lot of them. Two-way play is going to hurt others. Their skills translating is another big concern. The crucible of the pros will determine if these guys are going to be players but the concerns around their complete package is what makes them B prospects. No shame in that. Still means they have a legitimate chance in playing in the NHL.

Coronato and Wolf are both B prospects. Both of them have factors that are working against them and have people skeptical at their games translating to the NHL.

Is he on drugs? If this is true I think he might be misunderstanding the market.
If someone offered him 7x7 he should have signed that before the ink was dry.

If we really want to get into semantics, because who doesn't enjoy that, I think he's a B+ prospect.
