Just finished the Conroy interview. Impossible not to love Craig.
Did we collectively decide on the pronunciation of Zary?
Sounds like Larry or sounds like Ferrari? I go with Larry but I will adjust if someone actually knows.

I enjoyed that interview a lot.
Conroy has repeatedly mentioned building the team through trades and also talked about how teams are willing to move up and down in the draft this year. I'm really looking forward to the draft as it seems like there will be a lot of action this time around.

Media gets pronunciation guides for all players and Rick Ball pronounces it like, "Larry".

Great interview, interesting bit about Huska being flexible in trying out young players in different areas compared to Sutter.

Sounds like Conroy wants a center and might not consider Iginla to be a center.
But I think there's a pretty good chance that the BPA at the Flames' spot will be a defenseman.

Could be real interesting with UFA’s. Conroy essentially stating they may overpay on AAV and not term as he said those are deals that can be traded. If players think the cap is going to continue to see big increases they may be interested in taking a short term deal in Calgary to increase their opportunity to cash in again in 1-2 years. If they are all about the money it makes a lot of sense and the Flames would likely be more than accommodating to flip them to contenders and get picks/prospects in return.
Listening to Frank on the morning show yesterday he made it sound like there was going to be quite a bit more roster change between now and next season for the Flames. George argued they have no chance to compete and Frank alluded to more changes coming

I like how Conroy keeps emphasizing youth and how the priority is drafting with trading.

I loved how Conroy said he wants to avoid signing anyone that their contract makes them untradeable as soon as it is signed. Also said any UFA signings would be focused on players who can contribute to the culture they want to create. I interpreted that as being committed to a rebuild and not trying to sneak into the playoffs now.
Also dismissed the idea that they had a trade in place for Markstrom at the deadline which contradicts Seravalli’s claim that the trade was agreed to and was nixed above Conroy.

I don't know what the hell is BPA in this draft. Listening to Conny I don't think anyone knows, everyone's gonna a have their lists.
Wouldn't shock me if Catton and Helenius not sit pretty high on the Flames list. They both exemplify strengths the Flames love.
This draft is gonna be wild. Especially since he also said there's some opportunities out there to move around in the top ten.

Sorry what's Pinders background? Doesn't he come from a sports broadcasting history as well?

How freaking lucky are we to have Conroy as our spokesperson for the team?
What a unique approach to general management. It's clear that he's learned a ton from the PR perspective given how naturally open he is as a person when talking to media. "Refreshing" doesn't even start to cover it.
I have, and will continue to be, a Craig Conroy Stan. What a frickin' beauty.

Barnburner is arguably the biggest sports show in Calgary right now. I think you'd be remiss to suggest that Pinder and Boomer are amateurs or unprofessional.

Barnburner is the only Flames show I listen to at the moment. I find them to be the most honest about the state of the franchise and they don't have to toe the company line.

It’s a hobby for Warrener. This is Pinder’s job. And he’s good at it. He can be a bit inflammatory at times but he understands the game and has entertaining takes. The show would be significantly worse without him. It’d just be boomer and Warrener stroking each other off. Don’t get me wrong I do like them but Boomer just agrees with whatever Warrener says.

??? What are you talking about?? Boomer has been in the industry for over 20 years while Pinder also worked his way up through radio. Nothing against Pat but to say Boomer and Pinder are not professionals is just wrong. They’ve been around enough to know that legacy media is a total trash industry littered with yes people and both were fortunate enough to leave Roger’s behind and make a go on their own, far from simply “YouTubers”. You may or may not like them, but they are as professional as anyone in talk radio.

No, no, you don't get it.
Media in Canada means Rogers, Bell, or the CBC. If you're not employed by one of those three companies, you're just a monkey screeching into a microphone. You're a know-nothing nobody, and should have your licence to speak revoked.
It's the same in publishing. If you're not under contract with one of the Big Five, you're not only not a real writer, you're outright illiterate and should have your kindergarten diploma torn up.
Also, the Internet is a fad, all real news comes from printed newspapers, and personal computers are silly toys that will never replace mainframes. And a telephone is a black box with a handset and dial, which is hardwired into the wall and rented from Our Lord and Master, the Telephone Company.
Get off of my lawn!

I listen to every barn burner episode and love them but I don't think Pinder or warrener come prepared to be honest.
Boomer 100% is a professional but to me Pinder and warrener seem like they just do it for fun.
I've listened to every episode from day 1 and at least once an episode Pinder will say something factually incorrect and he will admit he didn't watch the Flames game....a game he is paid to cover.
So while I don't think they are unprofessional they 100% don't take their job as serious as boomer or Pat.
Having said all that barn burner is my favorite podcast and Pinder is my favorite to listen to even if he is wrong a lot or says things not factually correct.
