I think its underblown. You want championships, you need elite draft picks. You want generational talents, you need a shot at drafting them. There's no way around it. Every championship calibre team has had them. If you ever want to see a generational, or even exceptional talent in a Flames uniform, that is the path. Those are the players that do the things that win cups.

Tkachuk is such a loser against the Oilers, for the first time ever Oiler fans are right...he ran and hid from them
After all the Kassian stuff he has TWO chances to win the cup in Edmonton and THAT is the effort? Remember when Zito called him "generational"

Flames ownership (and we as fans) ought to learn from what has happened, and do better. Throwing shade at/discrediting the “plan” of other teams that have been emphatically better than our team is a futile exercise. You may disagree with the Oilers/Avalanche/Panthers/Lightning approach, but those teams have better players and have found more success than our team. The NHL draft is a structural system that rewards teams for putting in the effort (sucking, which is a hard process for an organization and their fans to endure), and working within/making use of that system is how you build a winner.

Every generational player wins a cup, pretty much without exception. Flames should definitely follow the plan of getting one of those. Shouldn't be too hard.

Yep, Flames should aim to be the worst team in the league for 5-10 years.

A generational player is bound to come along in that amount of time, and then all they have to do is not lose the lottery that year or hope they haven't already disqualified themselves from winning it by already winning a few of them in recent years.

We have Panthers fans who have posted here constantly for the past 2+ years...all throughout the playoffs last year and this until a few days ago.

Get back online and tell us what the hell is going on.

Well even if you lose the lottery, you get an Eichel.
The Flames picks will be very high the next 2 years, so we'll at least put this theory to the test.

This is more about Florida falling apart in game 4 and beyond.

Florida has made it easier for any opponent to change the momentum and even the series.

I said it before, but when you have an opportunity to put your opponent away, there can’t be any mercy, doubt, and you have to want it more than the other team.

Somehow Florida has managed to squander 3 games and they have a repeating pattern:

Give up the first goal
Get down by 3 or more goals
Lose the goaltending battle
Lose on special teams

Florida must eliminate 3 of these 4 patterns to have a chance in game 7 and it’s on all of them not just Bob, the D, their PP and PK, their “on-ice leaders”, and their coaching staff.

Game 5 they played okay, Bob sucked
hopefully they can play a decent home game...forget the comeback though they are VERY lucky this thing isn't over...they were lucky to be up 3-0 in the first place and they are lucky to have a game 7 at home for the cup. Stop feeling sorry for yourselves and win a ####ing game!

Interesting perspective, considering every cup winner in the last decade plus basically has rostered a lottery ball player.

I think if anything, what this shows us is that the only way to win is to tank and get elite players. Edmonton tanked and it worked for them. Colorado tanked and it worked for them. Eichel got traded to Vegas and they won. Chicago tanked. Pittsburgh tanked. The Kings tanked. Tampa tanked.

You have to tank to win a cup.

Doesn't every team have a lottery ball player on their roster?

At the end of the day, Flames were out months ago, so we lost the ability to control the result of the Stanley Cup Final, so from that perspective, there's nothing to get upset about.

I don't think any of us ever had that power...

People talking about Tkachuk but bennett seems like he's lost out there.

It's like he became a calgary flame again in the Finals.

Their entire roster looks lost. The moment I guess was too big for them.

Unless they all get hypnotized and convinced that this isn't the cup finals, they have no chance Monday.

That is not a plan.
Ya! Suck it Jake haha
