I'm no expert on Catton but I do recall being impressed with how clutch he seemed for Team Canada in the Hlinka tournament where he captained them to Gold...

wonder if it might have been a slip and he might have meant 5 D and 7 forwards...who knows...

How does Catton compare to the following in their draft years:
Matthew Barzal
William Nylander
Alex Nylander
Clayton Keller
Zach Benson
All these players were considered to have top five talent in their draft years but were also considered too undersized and too one dimensional to be taken in the top five of their drafts. And they all ended up being drafted in the 7th to 13th overall range. Is Catton’s production and skill set on par with these players in their draft years or higher even? Just trying to get a gauge of how skilled he is.
|
Other than benson he is better than all of them. Only a few players in every draft can do what catton does and slow the game down. Mentioned before his numbers are better than point, draisaitl and rnh. Only one of two above him is bedard.
5 11 and 195 is pretty solid but on the shorter side ya but his skill and iq level are more than enough to make up for it.

Hey @Sandman, do you have a profile on Matvei Gridin? He seems like an intriguing prospect to me and seems to be ranked all over the place by the major publications.

Cattons numbers eclipse all of these guys from a pure numbers perspective.
He put up generational numbers along side the likes of McDavid, Crosby and Bedard if memory serves me correctly. I’m trying to find it, someone posted it in here many pages back.
Had something to do with his 1.71 ppg as a 17 year old which beats everyone on the list above.
I’d have a hard time passing on Catton for Iginla, this guy is just that good.
I’d be shocked to see him drop to 9th.

Man I’d love to get both Iginla and Catton. I think Catton is gonna get people out of their seats like Johnny did, and Tij is going to be clutch in big games. Cmon conny work some magic to grab both guys

I want a FW and I'm happy with any center available. Be it Lindstrom, Helenius or Catton. If it's Tij. Cool too. If it's a D man. That's also cool. I don't think they go wrong. Well except for Eiserman. I don't like the cut of that kids jib.

My personal top 10 preference for our pick.
1. Demidov
2. Lindstrom
3. Parakh
4. Catton
5. Silayev
6. Buium
7. Dickinson
8. Hage
9. Iginla
10. Yakemchuk
I left Levshunov off because there is zero chance he will slide.

You can see Demidov sliding to 9?
I can't see that happening. At all

Not really but I think there is a miniscule chance. Very miniscule.

We will draft one of the following. It’s a good scenario:
Celebrini, Demidov, Levshunov, Lindstrom, Buium, Catton, Iginla, Parekh, Dickinson, Silayev.

Tier2: Lindstrom
Tier3: Buium/Sennecke
Obviously on going and things could change in a week but speculation is they are not as high on Iginla as previously suspected.

Sennecke looks like a player !

I’ve always been intrigued that you’re so high on Hage.
I think he’s going to be good, but not more than Iggy.
Size and posistion edge for you?

Everybody will be gone by the time we pick. Every prospect that gets mentioned as a possible selection is followed by posters saying he won't be there at 9.

I think his skill, position, and skating is top notch. I think if he was not dealing with a tragic summer where he lost his dad his start would have been much better and we would be talking of Hage as a top 10 pick. When I watch him I see the potential for a 1st line centre. I just think he is a better player than Tij in every aspect but shot and forecheck. I think Hage will be an absolute steal for someone.

That sneaky toe drag shot is going to beat a lot of goaltenders.
