Sure, he listened to other teams, but Markstrom’s value could’ve gone up if another particular team didn’t get an intended UFA goalie or defenseman on July 1. The Devils weren’t going anywhere on Markstrom, two days ago or two weeks from now.
If the Devils wanted to do this deal now, as opposed to 13 days from now, IMO they should’ve paid a further premium.

Conroy had zero cards, as Marky wanted to only go to NJ.

Several reports have said Markstrom was willing to consider other locations. He certainly was allowing Conroy to talk about possible trades with other teams.

Calls for Conroy to be fired following a series of disastrous trades that have set back our rebuild for years.

That guy just sounds pissed that Treliving is the Leafs gm. Tre should have been able to beat that terrible offer

I don’t know if having a disgruntled goalie would be good for the room

Doesn't need to be. The NHL is a more skilled faster game where guys are bigger and make plays faster.

For what it's worth, a lot of people probably don't realize English is a second language for you because you write clearly, practically like a native speaker. I recall when you first came aboard and the improvement is very noticeable. Not that I ever had trouble understanding what you were getting at, but you could tell sometimes. Not so much these days.

Are they, in fact, bigger in the NHL? Faster I grant you, but ‘being able to see around NHL forwards’ is an odd thing to expect him to have trouble with.
Much smaller men than Wolf have been perfectly good NHL goalies. A bigger goalie covers more of the net, but it's not as if a slightly smaller one needs to stand on a box to see the play.

Before the season started it looked like the Flames were hamstrung by Markstroms contract and poor play - then he raised his value and made the club better.
I think they just stole Christmas, none of this rebuild will feel good if all these draft picks are Rico Fata level flops though.

Wasn't an attempt to prove him wrong was simply referencing back to a post I assumed jayswin meant. I also think cmpdave is a fraud

Yes, the draft is the key. If they can’t draft, all of this means ####.
These are not premium picks. Quantity is not equal quality.
I am skeptical of the Honzek pick so far but willing to wait and see

That’s not a card, as it simply slows the rebuild.

The whole talk about Wolf not being able to see over NHL forwards is ridiculous.
Goalies don't look 'over' players, they look around them. How tall do you have to be to look over another player? If the forward is 6', you would need to be at least 6'8"
As mentioned, there are other goalies that are roughly Wolf's height in the NHL. Size definitely matters to be clear, and smaller goalies are going to have larger holes over their shoulders, for instance. So there are things Wolf is going to have to overcome, due to his size.
But 'looking over NHL forwards' is not one of them.
