How did Rangers screw him?

Sign a NMC instead next time.

Take a little less even to make it happen if it is that important to you.

Because it looks like I’ll be a new Sharks fan in 1 week, I really hope the rumours of Goodrow’s discontent are incorrect, and he is a great pro and mentor for the team.

He's probably happy to go back to the Bay area but not to go back to the San Jose organization at this point in their timeline. He won two cups with Tampa and moved to NYR who is nearing their peak contention level where he could possibly help them win another cup and suddenly he finds himself on a cellar dweller. That sucks.

If he thinks it through, he could well be on another contender next year at the TDL.

It does suck that they worked around his M-NTC no trade list ( sounds like SJ was on it) by waiving him. His agent should have thought of that, because a M-NMC versus a M-NTC at the time they signed him was probably an easy ask - the wouldn't have thought waivers was a real possibility.

San Jose was on his No trade list, and they wanted him. So Drury waived him so they could claim him.

Apparantly hes pissed about this. Rightfully so. No one wants to be in SJ.

He has every right to be pissed - they circumvented his no trade list by doing this.

I get all that. Why is it considered "screwing him". Players have the right to try UFA. Players have the right to have their no trade clauses respected.

Well Drury had the right to waive him.

TFB that his agent didn't get him a NMC instead of NTC.

Yes, they had the 'right' to do this. And he has the 'right' to be pissed. Pretty straight-forward.

No "being pissed" contracts coming soon.
