I have to think Kadri is next to go. Salary cap has gone up and he had a great season. He's also has a game that translates well to the playoffs. And I can't imagine he wants to stick around for this rebuild.
Makes sense to move on and find him a home elsewhere.

Good Good; but we will be really bad (which is good).

Only good if we are bad enough to one day be good enough.

Just waiting on someone to chime and let us know that Kevin Bahl shows us that Conroy is not rebuilding, but retooling on the fly and making the playoffs next season.
Getting a 3rd pairing D for our starting goalie is a great start.

There was just as many people saying that Mercer alone was a complete pipedream.
This is a good trade for Calgary. If people were expecting more than this, I don't know what to tell them.

Haven’t gone through previous comments yet, but two things stand out for me.
We’ve got some pretty decent D prospects now. I’m thinking forward, particularly centre prospects are likely the priority in next week’s draft. Also, considering two seasons ago we were talking trading Markstrom for a bag of pucks, this trade looks pretty ok.

Probably more of the same, late or conditional 1sts is the best case scenario I think

I can see Flames keeping Kuzmenko and Sharangovich. We're building a little mini Team Russia and both these players improved coming to the Flames

Bottom of league teams all have guys like those players. San Jose had Duclair to start the season. Chicago traded for Beauvillier.

Not everyone believed he was worth Mercer + a 1st.

Conroy is already the one saying that.

I agree with Warrener on BB when he gave his opinion that one side is not happy with the deal or the ask. Kylington has indicated he wants to stay, Flames have indicated the same. So there's a disagreement on the dollar or term.

We'll probably see NJ move the 10th in another trade.
They know they can get more than Markstrom +28 for that and still had a way to get Markstrom.
Have to think from NJ's perspective too.

Plus TDL was a different scenario - NJD had a shot at the POs.

Nah, there was a pretty big contingent that was getting yelled for saying Mercer or the 10th overall was never coming back. This is a pretty good trade for a goalie. Schneider was the last goalie to return a top ten pick and he was 25 and playing lights out.

Great trade for the Flames. I don’t get the indifference towards Bahl. I think he’s a legit dman and is 24 years old, 6’6”, 230lbs. Plus a 1st round pick?
Heck of a deal, considering Markstrom really controlled his destiny.
Would expect the Devils to do much better next year, but if they don’t that pick would slide to 2026 right? Meaning we would have 3 first round picks all unprotected in 2026.
I like this trade a lot. And like how Conroy has brought in a bunch of dmen.
Wonder who might be next, feels a like a draft day trade could be a real possibility too. Mangiapanne maybe?

So the backend (barring an Andersson trade) is
Miromanov - Weegar
Bahl - Andersson
Kylington - Pachal/Hanley
With Hunter, Poirier, Solovyov, kuznetsov, grushnikov knocking on the door in the minors.
It is another rebuilding trade, another young asset and a pick coming coming back. Really wonder if Conroy is exploring options with Andersson. He has a bit of a NHL defence now and could possibly trade Rasmus for more rebuilding pieces and pick up a UFA to replace Rasmus.
