A 1st round pick and a decent young, controllable defenseman seems pretty good for a 35 year old goaltender who re-built his value last season.

This is great asset management. We have 6 first round picks in the next 3 years.

Pretty good return for Markstrom and the Flames add a serviceable big body defenseman to the roster. Conroy keeps rolling with the punches.

I think we probably would have gotten more if we traded him during the season, but that's what happens when people above Conroy get involved in the process.

As part of the pro-rebuild crowd, I am a fan. This is now a bigger teardown than during the Iginla era. We've acquired more 1st round picks than that era as well.

I see only one path to success now. I'm on the Hagens (2025) and McKenna (2026) train. And I think the team is going in that direction as well.
