I would bet we could get a pick for him or maybe a more even hockey trade where the team takes the risk of age to improve right now.
I would even bet that Lou would move his first for him if it meant getting him to the Islanders.
I bet you are way off. NYI barely has cap space to keep their RFA's right now, then you have 70-point Dobson getting $10 mil next year.
Kadri to NYI 100% needs a bad contract coming back and I doubt we get a 1st, unless the contract we get back is a very bad contract.
Then there is the NMC, Kadri might like NYI, but he might not.
I'm hopefully we can trade Kadri and gain assets but it likely is a trade where we get much lessor of an asset than a 1st and it will probably feel like we are giving him away if we trade him. I'm ok with this as giving him away will add value when it matters after a rebuild. Right not Kadri and Huberdeau will be old and very high paid when we need to sign the player we take high in the 2025 draft. Goodrow will be off the books and is much better than people are saying he is simply because Brooks claims he is getting bought out.
Kadri's buyout is also completely reasonable if he really needs to be dumped in the last two years of his deal. Flames won't retain unless it is really good value.
Huberdeau is the only player that the Flames need to be look at trading for crappier but shorter contracts. I just hope by year 5/6 of his deal that they can pay some team to take him if they the cap
Kadri isn't going anywhere. The Flames value him as a player and someone who helps develop the young talent and winning another Cup for Kadri is secondary to where he has decided to settle down with his family which is Calgary.

Giving him away isn't retaining and maybe adding an asset to him to get Goodrow. Kadri for a 5th or something would be giving him away for free.
Kadri's buyout cap hit is like 2 million or something if they buyout his contract with two years left. It is not much of a problem.

People are in the "TRADE EVERYTHING NAO!!" mindset. Its dumb.

I have heard there is a player on buffalo with interest in being traded to calgary. I wonder if Buffalo could be a interesting partner in the trade field.
A player who WANTS to be TRADED to Calgary? Is today April Fools?
A week or so ago Warner was saying that Mangiapane's name came up in BUF circles. He couldn't say more though.
That's interesting. I assume that we're talking about Buffalo management here? I actually think Mangiapane is still a good player when I look at his underlying numbers, but I also think his time in Calgary is coming to an end with the reports that he wants to leave.

Wouldn't be surprised if that was Krebs.
Local kid, probably sees a lot of opportunity at forward on the Flames, especially at Center.
Something around Krebs and Mangiapane could make sense for both sides.

Value-wise, it probably works. I’m not sure why the Sabres would be looking for another small winger, when they’re already concerned about the size and physicality of their forwards, and most of their prospects (Benson, Savoie, Kulich, Rosen) are small wingers.
Mangiapane is mentioned in an Athletic article about Sabres trade targets (along with Buchnevich, Ehlers, Konecny, and a few others). Krebs is even mentioned as a possible return. But it seems to be more speculation than rumours.

Interesting trade on Capfriendly that I stumbled across today:
Sharangovich
2026 3rd
Kakko
2025 1st
If a fair contract with Sharangovich can't be reached, that's pretty good framework for a potential return for him. Would make that Toffoli deal look even better as well.

If Conroy turned Toffoli into effectively a fomer 2nd overall pick and another 1st it would be one hell of a return.
