Touch on with my post above. Comes down to extra work accessing and exposing/pipe, and procurement of pipe segments. Maybe they'll get 3 of 5 done fast, but last 2 will need pipe that's a longer lead time. Those are details we don't have, and frankly don't need to know. All I know is they are sure to have it done as fast as they can.

Is it due to availability of replacement pieces? I think I remember someone said they had something on hand for this repair, but if it's suddenly 5 more places maybe it'll take time to get what's needed?

They confirmed in the press conference that they don't have all the necessary segments and have to source elsewhere in north america.

Oh it’s really awesome, all levels. Never question anything, everything is good, people who question things or think the government lies to them are all idiots and that would never happen. Governments have never lied and their track records are all wicked awesome. Everybody but Pepsifree is an idiot, and if only everyone thought like Pepsifree then things would be better. Governments are just the best, and have it all figured out. Thank god for governments.

I’m not sure I agree with this 3-5 week proactive replacement plan.

Why can’t we just get the system up and running, excavate those weak spot location, and procure and stage new pipe in case it breaks. Then either just fix it if something actually breaks or planfully do it in the fall when water consumption is naturally lower?

Seems we’re taking a for sure outage during peak demand to avoid a maybe outage.

I'd say it's all in the tone, that's why. Plenty of people are asking questions and resulting in good discussion. But even this post, rather than just saying "hey does anyone know if they're working 24 hours a day on this" is instead full of "government track record" and "suspect things could be expedited"

It comes across as fishing for reasons to be outraged rather than a genuine question

Stop being a conspiracy theorist and questioning government. You must be a total ####ing idiot. Governments have it under control and all questions are stupid because questioning what the government in power here does is stupid because they are the smartest and the best. Stop questioning, you’re an idiot and a conspiracy theorist.

Without being an expert, I guess I'd suspect they worry repressurizing would be enough to cause more failures. Often a system restart is the highest stress. Who knows how bad these other sections are.

No no, you said their track record suggested you should question everything including how they’re fixing the water main, so give some examples of that track record. It should be exceptionally easy, right?

Unless you’re one of those idiots who doesn’t know anything but still gets mad because gosh darn it, it should just be done better! I mean, you don’t know why but it just should be because that’s what the bird brain said! They should ask you for advice, right? Maybe you can get in there with a shovel and lend a hand, since you suspect they’re dropping the ball.

Could also be how people interpret tone on a message board too, but fair point for sure.

For sure, sorry boss, shouldn’t have questioned anything. Sorry. I’m so sorry. Everyone is dumb for questioning the government and they have an amazing track record. They’re the best.

My understanding is the two main factors are that the system is already flushed and ready to go, saving a ton of time and money. And some of the areas might not be easily accessible so you can't just sit on the spots until there's an issue.

Imagine how upset we'd all be to go through all this then in 4 months we have to do it all again. It's definitely a bit of a lose-lose but I'd rather bite the bullet now

For sure, and I'd say it's important for people like me who are quick to dismiss anyone who seems accusatory, to remember that it's also likely just frustration instead

But if they pressure up and it fails then we’re probably still talking 3-5 weeks to repair. Seems like taking a chance is all upside.

I guess we’d risk adding a couple days of wasted time on commissioning and start up. But that seems like a pretty good gamble.

Field of pails. If you place them, rain will come.
