Stay calm and cool, Panthers. You can do this.

If Edmonton loses, I wonder if the fans and media are going to talk about how it took Florida a second try to win it all. Therefore, increasing the hype exponentially for an Oilers cup win next season.

Absolutely. Like what's been discussed here I also have had Oiler fan coworkers Compare this years team to the 83 Oilers. Delusional? You bet. But this will also be the Sportsnet narrative to start next season. Guaranteed. Unless they happen to lose a major star.

This iteration of the Oilers needs to be killed with fire (not literally?) so Sportsnet etc can reset and give it a rest.

It's already started.

"Even the 80s got swept in 83 by the Islanders before beating them in 5 in 1984"

Even though coming into the series experience didn't matter and Florida losing last year was irrelevant

Certainly.

But the thing is...one of the things that gets me is that people have a tendency to think of things as 'Ceteris Paribus.'

"Holding all else constant."

Which it is not. McDavid and Drai will get older. More tired. Time marches on.

That old Oilers quote against the Islanders was also describing a much different team in a different era against different opponents.

Its irrelevant and stupid to think that way, because nothing stays the same forever.

It’s a stage of grief isn’t it? I’m not sure if it’s the denial or bargaining stage but as some point they hit acceptance and realize e=ng.

You studied Latin in addition to accounting and forestry? You're a true Renaissance man.

Knob sounds like a decent fellow. Unfortunately another innocent guy Edmonton will ruin.

It would be a sweet revenge for Florida for Bobrovsky to beat the record that Roy set against the Panthers.

I know it's ####ed up, but I really want there to be complete chaos in Edmonton. Brutal rioting until Sunday morning

Oilers fans on twitter now are just saying things like at least we made it to the finals and 2nd place is better then any of your teams.
