As I disclaimed if you read my posts. I bet their strategy will be change now. Isn’t a statement of impacting 10,000 or more people written in your risk matrices. Or whatever number. Worst part of engineers is they never admit when they are wrong.
They are doing good, as I said. I don’t like the part where you blamed Jews for it though.
Where I blamed the Jews?????? Is there a typo somewhere.
Did you think I was serious about the two? I even say I’m half joking in the second post.
Or you can be an adult about it and realize that life isn't always that simple.
The whining going on in this city is impressive.
It's outrage culture. People think they have to think the worst about everything, all the time. Then if there's nothing to complain about, they make things up, or go 'yeah but what if xyz, then this would be ridiculous!'
I'm so sick of it. Every minor thing blown up like it's a catastrophe.

Watering grass with treated potable water is beyond stupid anyway...so it can die in a couple months when we freeze again.
Its not even grass native to the area, the weeds we hate are natural and what nature needs more of. Time for you boomers to move on, puts some rocks or plants in and call it a day.

Has anyone really been negatively affected by this being extended or am I just being selfish and only thinking of my own circumstances? Because all it's meant for me is I need to be creative watering my plants, I'm using paper plates to cut down on dishes, and my car is way too dirty. Other than that, life goes on as normal.
Am I wrong in thinking this is no big deal and that if this really messes up your life you probably use too much water anyway? Curious what you guys think or what angles I haven't considered
edit: I guess the other part of this too is I have experience in these areas and haven't seen or read anything I find objectionable.
I just don't get why people always seek reasons to call foul or claim incompetence. It's like they're wishing that was actually the case just so they can feel justified in being miserable and angry all the time

I haven’t changed a thing but I use next to zero water. My patch of grass 100% owned by the city is getting the attention it always has, which is none. Piss and crap at times and boil some food and shower every once in a while.
I see City employees are now working from home.... Does that really save water? Any other employers doing the same?
Others may have already answered this but consider how much water some public toilets with jet engine flushes must use compared to regular ones. And at home you can mellow for a few flushes easier than the workplace
Otoh anywhere with those waterless urinals would be a win, but only for half the population.

Gardening is one of the most popular hobbies in Canada.
A further 3-5 weeks of outdoor water restrictions - reaching into the hottest and driest weeks of the year - means most home vegetable gardens, flower gardens, lawns, potted plants, etc are a write-off this year. That’s going to make a lot of people sad.

It's a very good point but I've just been doing things like plugging the shower and watering with that water, or using pasta water when I'm done with it. I like the idea of getting a raincatch now too. But that doesn't nullify your point, mine is also fairly small
Fwiw I saw on reddit that the city is also providing non-potable water to community gardens on request but I have no clue if that's true or not

If the city waited until the every detail was accounted for to say it would be 3-5 weeks people would be livid at the lack of updates from the "lazy city workers". If they update as they find out people stomp their feet because in the real world sometimes things change.
I'm sure this has been a real inconvenience for some people and there some ways we could be better like limiting some non residential uses too but for most people this isn't that big of a deal and sometimes life is annoying.
It's not a catastrophe, it's not some diabolical plan, it has nothing to do with our current politicians or "lazy city workers", etc etc.

The only real issue is the loss of swimming lessons for my kids. They love it and have a swimming camp in July which could be affected now. Otherwise no big deal.

3-5 weeks changes the equation drastically. Whether it's trucking water to the reservoirs around town from Bearspaw treatment or whatever, the City really needs to look at every possible alternative now to increase the supply and get water to where it's needed. Or ways to reduce demand. Emergency funds from the Province or Feds to compensate businesses for lost revenue and ordering them to shut down?
I gots this.
And then you just melt it.
Or. Alternatively...Kevin Costner solved this problem in 1995.

The real question is can the city support at the current time the demands that the Calgary Stampede has? What is their backup plan for the next month if the Glenmore feeder has issues? Are they running that pipeline at higher pressure than normal?
For the sake of the city I'm hoping it can continue the way it has and you don't run out of water with only minor inconveniences.

I think this feels like every other restriction out there. We are all doing are part then, drive by a golf course and the irrigation is full blast.
Should I wash my clothes? Or save that water for Earl Grey’s members to play some golf?
Its shouldn’t be about shaming people when the people who asked to restrict are doung such a poor and lazy job managing it
Can you be specific about the poor and laziness of the management please and how you would do it differently given your specific knowledge of the situation?

Golf courses aren’t using treated, city water. You can wash your clothes. You can have showers. Just be conscious of the water used, and be economical where possible. You can water your plants if you have a watering can and catch some rain/grey water.
Thus isn’t as difficult, dramatic, or political as some are determined to make it.
