Yeah and where are the Flames "fans" who were on here telling us all that it's time we admit the Oilers are a good team?

Pathetic.

Oilers had one of the easiest runs to the finals in recent memory. Dallas was beat up from Vegas and Colorado and had nothing left. Panthers are a true contender.

McDavid is just the fast version of Alex Tanguay. Difference was Tanguay actually scored goals in a game to win a cup.

There is no way that McDavid is remotely close to Lemieux. Lemieux and Gretzky are so far above everyone else. I’d easily take Yzerman, Sakic, and Crosby before McDavid.

They have no cap space and no prospects and are short picks. Do they even have 1 player that might step up and help next year? Holloway and Broberg just don't look like they are good enough to take on a bigger role.

Bourgault had 20 points in 55 games in the AHL. Lavoie had 50 in 66 games, but he is 24 soon which is less impressive at that age in the AHL.

They need 4 forwards, 1 dman and a goalie plus resign RFA's Broberg and Holloway with $10 mil cap space. That is very hard to manage with nobody coming up from the AHL to fill spots.

I was wondering aloud yesterday, of the two in McDrai which player would you want to se win the cup more on a different team. Basically which player is more likeable, and deserves having that accolade on his belt one day?

I personally went with Draisaitl. I like him more as a player, and think he's a harder worker than McDavid. Sure he can be pissy, and has attitude problems, but on that team with thart culture surrounding him I can kind of excuse his views. He plays on the edge, and can be dirty at times; but I respect those kind of players. He plays through injuries and is more of a battler.

With McDavid I just don't think he's a very likeable player. He's nothing like Crosby, Ovechkin, or Mackinnon. Connor seems to have a silver spoon attitude and feels that he's above everyone else and devoid of any criticism. Just look at the above as an example where even calling him "overrated" isn't tolerated. For the life of me I can't recall a moment where McDavid went above and beyond, or appeared likeable. Maybe that's just not his personality... but he just doesn't come off as personable and is almost robotic (grown in a lab).

Maybe I'm overthinking the question, yet when Drai is in Los Angeles and McDavid is playing for the Leafs we may have to consider this.

Don’t miss the happy side effect here that the oiler fans who show up to talk only when they win are going to be quiet as a church mouse all summer. Darn shame I tell ya. Don’t worry fellas we’ll still make fun of you until you come back. September will be a blast

I've read quite a bit of this thread, but there is a tactic used by Edmonton coach Elevated Knoblach where he pretends he thinks there is a TV timeout and then the delay of game antics is like an extra 30 seconds after he realizes no tv timeout. I think there was another moment in Game 2 like this where delaying the game tactic was used again to allow players a rest.

I understand if you are Knob and you have to play your two best guys 55% of the time, but this is in effect the true essence of delay of game. Sure a D-Man can exit a puck in his own zone and there's no argument about delay of game. I could see the coach being allowed a "one of" mistake which leads to delay of game. This is a strategy and it really rubs me the wrong way.

I'd love to see the Ref's enforce a delay of game on Knob if he does this again.

I really don’t care much for McDavid. He’s a bland personality, bland person. Great player, will go down as one of the best. Didn’t start getting attitude issues until he starting hanging with Leon, who is nothing but a POS. POS attitude, human being, entitled, and has a punchable face.

I doubt McDavid goes his whole career without a cup. Would be funny if he did but extremely unlikely. I wish nothing but the worst on #29.

Knoblauch decided to just throw everyone not named McDavid, Hyman, or Nugent-Hopkins under the bus. Truly baffling. Question and insane answer comes at 2:40

Full quote because...wow.

Quote:
Jim - "Kris, a couple things. You have Leon playing with Connor sometimes in the games, but often Connor's got Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Zach Hyman, and Leon has got...whoever's left. Do you ever look at it and say - I wish we had one winger that Leon could play with all the time?"

Knobhead - "Yeah, I think it's uhh...Leon has done tremendously well. You look at the superstars around the league and who they play with. Look at Kucherov has Point and Mackinnon, Rantanen. Tavares....or uh Matthew with Marner, and Taveres, Nylander, just all that. Leon doesn't get enough credit for what he accmoplishes without playing with another star. Most superstars have another star to play with and Leon gets to play with.....Connor sometimes. And there's some line juggling that we do and obviously we try and do what's best for our team."

Wow, that really rallies the rest of the team and throws your GM under the bus.

I guess they are down 3 to 0 so maybe he's looking at the off season.

They need depth at forward, a new d core and a goalie.
