I still think it's going to help him get a reduced suspension. As much as those other arrests had a negative impact that one event was bigger than all the others combined because it was a shooting. I think his suspension will get reduced to about 6 games...

He dropped his appeal, so I don't know if he will be reduced. I can't recall if there was any contingency for a reduction in the original.
The best he could dream for, in my mind, is reduced by 4 games. He is a posterchild for the NFL Bad Boy (well, one of) and if the commissioner shows leniency on this case he will be pestered on every case.

Yes but the major event that threw it all out there was the shooting which is what he was cleared for. Should be reduced IMO.

On the topic of football players behaving badly this is an interesting look at the implications to Vick now that the feds have taken over:

On the topic of football transactions, the Saints dump the beer man.

There is a condition in PacMan's suspension that would allow him to come back.
Quote:
|
Jones agreed last week not to appeal the suspension. The 23-year-old player could be reinstated after 10 games for good behavior if he adheres to conditions set by Goodell and is not arrested again. Missing the entire season would cost him his salary of nearly $1.3 million.
|
But he is not totally clear in the Las Vegas case.
Quote:
|
Attorney Robert Langford said no evidence tied Jones to the shooting, but an aide to Clark County District Attorney David Roger said it could take several days to decide if there is enough information to file charges against Jones and two friends.
|
No, this is not the same story.
Police investigate shooting, Pacman Jones involvement
Quote:
|
Suspended NFL player Adam "Pacman" Jones was being sought by police for questioning about a shooting early Monday involving members of his entourage after a fight at an Atlanta strip club.
|
I understand these are his friends, but when will Jones figure out that perhaps they are not helping him in his current situation. If Jones was smart he would not be hanging out at strip clubs at 4am.

And the Bengals continue to put the "F" in the National Felons League.
Quote:
Huntington Police have arrested Cincinnati Bengals running back Quincy Wilson and 14 others who were celebrating a wedding.
Wilson is the 10th Bengals player arrested in the past 14 months, a streak of misconduct that drew the attention of NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, resulted in three suspensions and made Cincinnati a glaring example of players gone bad.

And for those of you who picked 2 felony charges for the Las Vegas shenanigans of Pac Man Jones, you were correct. link
Chris Brown re-signed with the Titans.
Kailee Wong has retied.
Marco Riviera was released by the Cowboys
Jags cut Donovan Darius.
Saints cut Michael Lewis
Levar Arrington was in a motorcycle accident (although he isn't signed by anyone right now)

He could spend a year or two in jail.

I dont know... a team like the Redskins or a team that needs a kick-returner and nickel corner might take the risk. Obviously he cant demand any type of salary, but if it helps the return game to give the team an extra boost, it might be worth the risk.
Thats if he doesnt go to jail for awhile... which I hope he does.

I'm not so sure Goodell would even let him sign with another team.....I smell a severe punishment if these latest charges come to fruition.

Very true... anything more than a 2 year suspension and it's as good as a lifetime ban. You can only be inactive for so long...

Training camps start to open up in 4 weeks and we can officially kill this thread. I love the NFL and my dolphins and I can't wait till September. I can't wait to see what Green will do, or joey porter, or see if JT repeats as the best defencive player in the NFL

Can't wait for the season either. Without sounding like I'm drinking to much "kool-aid" I really do think were going to see Peyton mannings best season of pro football this year. Finally having that burden off his back of winning a ring, to go along with Harrison, Wayne, Clarke and now Gonzalez.

I think you are probably right about Peyton. The 'kool-aid' you sort of accuse yourself of drinking isn't very poisonous and tastes pretty good to most non-Colts fans too, even if they don't want to admit it.
I'm interested to see how Cutler does this year with more.....a lot more weapons. Walker, Stokely (hope that achilles is all better), Rod, Travis Henry and Mike Bell in the backfield, and Daniel Graham playing in front of his hometown crowd in an expanded role (since Tony Scheffler is lost for the season). The defense could be scary with Bailey and Bly on the corners.
The AFC is stacked. Which will make the playoffs very exciting and the Super Bowl probably a let down.

I could run in the Broncos backfield and gain 1000 yards, your coach can produce 1000 yard runners out of anybody. He just knows his sh** about producing a ground game.

He does, and has redefined zone blocking, well, him and that OLine coach that spent a decade there. Shanahan is a very interesting coach in that he does some things exceptionally well, and his ground game alone makes them compedititve year in and year out, but they are well below average in drafting which is usually the key to keeping your job as long as he has.
