We still need a #1C, and #1D. That would only drag us into 10 or 11 in the conference unless the #1C is McDavid who carries bums to the playoffs.
The only guy I could see Conroy wanting is Hague, and he's under contract for next year and an RFA after that. I doubt he moves the needle on being at the bottom of the standings.

Of course the games get played and who knows what happens. Teams surprise and teams are disappointing. But this team will be bottom of the league. I could see 65 points to 75 as a range. I really doubt they match the 81 they got last year.

75 likely has us picking in a spot we don't want to be in, but around 6-10 not outside the top 10.

You and Sec have opposite info from the Flames on a lot of occasions, haha.

I get that Wolf is small for an NHL goalie, but calling a 5'11 man "a midget" is funny to me.

Reminds me of the scene from Starsky and Hutch when they're looking for Big Earl. (the youtube clip didn't embed).

Starsky : Maybe it's one of those ironic names like Tiny over in vice. He's like eight feet tall and everyone calls him Tiny.

Hutch : Except this guy's kind of normal size, he'd have to be a lot smaller for a name like Big Earl to be ironic.

Starsky : You don't have to be a midget, how tall are you?

Bartender : I don't know, 5'9"?

Starsky : Well that is kind of?

Hutch : It's borderline, it's average.

It's not so much his height (although 5'11" seems a bit high for him), its his weight. He covers so little of the net compared to other goalies.

He's not Saros.

This is not what the team is doing. Some of you can't get it through your head that every one of their actions points to a rebuild. Like 31 other NHL teams, they don't use the word because they are convinced it's a bad PR move. But that's still what it is.

I don't think they're rebuilding. I think they're going to shuffle deck chairs on some roster spots and build a new foundation through the current one. Think of it like tree splicing.

Taking a sapling and growing it on the old stump.

I take Conroys comments at face value. They're going to get younger, and slowly integrate those new pieces as they come along. It's not going to be a SJ type of rebuild.

Conny said retool on the fly.

If scorched earth was level 5 and level one was what Chicago was doing during their cup runs, Flames are level 3. Churning out pieces as they come up for contract negotiations.

I don't know if they'll bottom out this coming season. It's a tough call because the pieces they're threading in can boom or bust. Those new pieces will dictate where they finish.

And we haven't even hit the draft yet, we don't know what trades Conny has up his sleeve. What directions he's gonna take when making said trades (outside of Marky, seems pretty evident where they're trying to go with that asset).

I don't know how anyone can project next year's roster before it's even done being assembled. Seems foolish.

So far, we don't even know what those new pieces will be. Conroy has specifically said he's not in the market for older UFAs on long-term deals, so it's a cinch the team is not acquiring any stars or near-stars on July 1. Any free agents they add will likely be stopgaps.

Yes, and that happens with fans speculating and reading things wrong, but Diss and Sec are insiders getting their info from the organization or people close to it and then relaying it here.

Ya. The team is totally rebuilding.you are right. The will move Kadri, Andersson, Backlund, Coleman, Weegar, and Huberdeau this summer right? Murray Edwards and ownership are lying. Conroy is lying. Steinberg and Flames talk are lying. Paulie Walnuts, a nobody on CalgaryPuck can see through all of it!

They are likely to move Markstrom this offseason.
Someone posted the goalie stats during that span and Markstrom was awful - much worse than Wolf or Vladar. If Wolf and Vladar play like they did in that span, the Flames’ record will likely be worse than the first half of the season, but not as bad as the last 21 games.

Look at the ANA, SJ, and CHI rosters from this season. Now look at the Flames’ roster for next season. Between the vets on the roster (Kadri, Backlund, Kuzmenko, Sharangovich, Coleman, Weegar, Anderson), and younger players ready to take a next step (Zary, Pospisil, Coronato, Pelletier) it’s not a playoff team, but it’s not bottom-five either. And I do think they’ll pick up a couple decent UFAs.

You need to calm down. You get upset easily.

I never said they are trading everyone. Maybe Andersson and Mangipane.

I’ve said all along they are keeping those guy. They will make picks and not trade them for wingers like Martin Necas, or underperforming centers like Zegras.

Stay the course. Move out Andersson, Mangioane load up on picks.

You have yet to answer who they are retooling around ?

Some of those guys are champions on the back 9 being paid. One is a legacy captain. The rest signed long term deals and have to ride the wave up or down of professional sports. If they don’t want to be here. Agree to terminate your contract which none of them will.

Murray hasn’t spoken publicly.

His mouth piece “Resigned”.

The new guy hasn’t spoken outside of hi I’m the new guy.

Sportsnet are media puppets. They have to get your clicks.

Paulie Walnuts is a member of our family, get along.

We don't know that they won't move draft capital. Conny said they'd look at options.

The fact the Flames have been linked in rumors around Necas says to me they are looking to add via trade. Don't count it out.

They’re looking at value. Sometimes teams make bad deals. Ahem Bennett.

Yup. Doesn't mean that there isn't value in moving draft capital for a certain type of player. That's where fan perception and actual organizational perception are going to differ.

That's not what a rebuild means, and you know it. NO team has ever dumped every veteran on the roster in the course of a rebuild.

Conroy has said very specifically what he's doing. He won't use the word ‘rebuild’, but what he says fits the ordinary fan definition of the word. Considering that NO team likes to use the word ‘rebuild’, Conroy's refusal to use it signifies nothing one way or the other.

Edwards and the other owners aren't lying; they haven't said anything at all.

So it's not ‘a nobody on CalgaryPuck’ versus the entire organization. It's the facts versus your perverse fixation on treating every word from the mouth of Conroy as exact and literal truth according to YOUR definitions of the words he's using.

lol. I think everyone agrees they aren’t doing that but that doesn’t mean they can’t/won’t rebuild. They’d also 100% trade Huberdeau if they could
