Everybody keeps saying "3 days off". It's not 3 days off.

Lol, it's 2 days without a game.
No game on Tuesday and no game on Wednesday.

Yeah, that threw me off, too, I kept reading "three days off" or "three days between games" from CP posters here and couldn't believe the NHL was doing that. Then I actually looked at the schedule and saw it was two days off between games when changing cities.
They've always done that.

Thursday is game day. Thursday is therefore not a day without a game.
The way you're counting it, unless it's an afternoon game, every day is a day without a game. It doesn't work that way.

What? Not that's not correct. If they play on Monday and they play on Thursday, then Tuesday, Wednesday are the two days off. You can't count a game day as a day off, that's silly.

They have always done this? Is this just for the finals?
I remember the Flames playing the Lightning nearly every other night during that series.
I remember the days of back to back games in the earlier rounds. I always thought two off days between games was usually due to scheduling conflicts or TV conflicts (NBA etc...)
Didn't realize they always did this recently.

It worked against Dallas and really it's the only card they have to play (also the only hope they have of winning by the looks of it).

Having 2 days between games, why did the Panthers not travel yesterday as well?
Is this a team thing or NHL. To me it seems like an NHL thing.

The Oilers had the choice of spending an extra night in Florida or at home, and chose home.
The Panthers had the choice of spending an extra night at home or in Edmonton, and not being insane, they also chose home.

Of course Panthers would choose to spend extra night at home, Oilers, especially McDiver probably wants to get back to his booze as soon as possible so he can drown his sorrow.

They have not always done that.
2019 and 2023 mostly followed it. 2021 and 2022 only had one day off between games.
The previous years had some games with one day off and others with two days off between games when they switched cities. Sometimes there were two days off between games in the same city, followed by one day off when they switched cities. There is no specific template that they've used for every SCF.
