If that was ANY player on the Panthers, it would definitely be a suspension. The only reason they didn't suspend Pissy is because the league can't afford to have one of their darling superstar wonder twins missing any games, and they need the series to go long.
Florida has to be careful here. They need to ignore this crap and just keep playing their game. Don't get sucked into retaliating, stay disciplined, and keep it 5 on 5 as much as possible. Bobrovsky is in their heads, and they can't win unless they're constantly on the McPP.
This. Win this next game and keep it going. When the panthers have a 4 goal lead with 2 minutes to go in the elimination game for the oilers… unleash Bennett on the wonder twins. Or don’t. Just win.
I always wonder in a situation like this if Bettman or someone else high up in the league calls the panthers management and gives them the choice:
“If Barkov is hurt and can’t play then I’ll suspend Draisaitl for a game. If you’d rather play Barkov then no suspension for Draisaitl. It’s your call.” If I’m the panthers and Barkov is good to go, I would probably go with the scenario where Barkov gets to play.
Obviously it would be very shady if this was the case but I could see it from this league. It should be as simple as looking at intent and what draisaitl did… and that should be enough to suspend him.
That's a little too influential for the league but you can still get the same point across by saying essentially the same thing. "It sure would be a interesting if Barkov came back healthy while Leon missed time. Do you anticipate him missing time or did he leave early for precautionary reasons?
The old mafia style trick. No threats and speak in 3rd person while highlighting the consequences. The classic one from Chris Chelios to Gary Bettman years ago. I am just saying, some crazed fan or someone may hurt him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTodQ6Svo9A
I can NEVER get the youtube links to work.

Edmonton's charter flight from Florida appears to have made a stop in Kansas City and then to Edmonton for approx 1 hour.
No reports I could see that indicated a plane or player problem but interesting. Anybody else see anything? Lot's of travel in this series which is why the NHL gave a 2 day break

I have to give Paul Maurice credit for pressing all the right buttons and keeping the team focussed on the prize. I've always considered him pretty overrated when you consider he's coached almost 2000 games in the NHL and his winning percentage is a very mediocre .536%. It also was weird to see a professional head coach quit a team like he did to the Jets. He's probably done some of his best coaching for the Panthers though and hopefully he can keep doing what he's doing and get his team to close out this series and end the nightmare.

Elbow directly to the jaw
Feet 6 inches off the ice at impact
Player elbowed leaves a 1 goal game with 10 minutes left
No suspension
This league is a ####ing joke
It's a really bad look, especially if Barkov misses any time as a result. The league making it blatantly obvious who they're favouring in this series.
If I were Paul Maurice I'd be absolutely fuming, but props to him for keeping his cool and trying to keep his team focused with their eyes on the prize. Hopefully the Panthers can finish this off in 4 and finally end this horrific timeline.

The Quest stands upon the edge of a knife. Stray but a little, and it will fail, to the ruin of all. Yet hope remains while the Company is true. Go Flames Go!
Glad he's ok (or good enough I suppose) but this practice of the NHL suspending based on the resulting injury and not the play or the act needs to stop.

If an injury on an illegal hit was enough to remove a key player from the rest of a game that still could have gone either way, that should be enough for a suspension - at least one game

I mean how many times have we seen replays played over and over determining if the arm "ran up" and hit the player in the head. This wasn't that. It was very cut and dry. Yet it didn't get any further look or perhaps even stranger, no further comment if any from the league.
In a year where the Oilers have been given what could probably be called "favorable treatment" on a number of fronts this really stands out.
Location: F*** me. We're so f***ing good, you check the f***ing standings? Lets f***ing go! F***ing practice!

I hope this makes the Panthers take the law into their own hands. Might be time to dress Lomberg, you know he would love to get in to become a human missile.
Do it smart, wait till the 3rd if the game is decided and come in to take out McDavid or Drai with a flying knee or Superman elbow.
You know, teach the league to do their f'n job or #### is going to get out of hand.

Oilers suck.
I think the Panthers are smart enough that they shouldn't go out of their way and get away from their game. Regardless of what happens, I bet this spills over into next season during the regular season.
Florida has outscored Edmonton 7-1 through two games.
I don’t think they should change a thing. Don’t go headhunting. Don’t change the lineup if you don’t have to. Whatever they are doing, it’s working. Now isn’t the time to get stupid and play the game the Oilers want them to play.
