I never said “full gas then full brake”. With adaptive cruise it is EITHER gas or brake. When your approaching a stop light, your vehicle will no “coast up to it”. It will be on the gas pedal until it is time to brake.

Hyundai Kona. Lanes were narrow and always semis, so I really like to stay on that outside line. It was much happier to be closer to the centre line, and kept kicking me over.

Oh I know, I said full gas or brake. That's how it feels when it's not in eco mode

Adaptive cruise drives me batty. I like to be an active driver, and letting the cruise control manage that slow down and gap management for me is a big no thanks. I find it more distracting than managing it myself. Just give me the emergency braking for those unforeseaable moments and lane management for when I need to stretch.

Adaptive cruise is fantastic.
Any single lane highways like 93 to Radium or the TCH in its stretches after LL, after Golden, after Revelstoke and through the Shushwap, are what it's made for IMO.
GM Supercruise is another level above all of this.

Best place for an AC system diagnosis and possible re-charge / repair ?
Not getting any cold air at all...
South Calgary preferred but I can travel if required.
2011 Ram 1500 P/U if it matters.

I know it requires some level of involvement but the coasting is easy to control by just pushing the cancel button and then hitting resume when you want to engage cruise again. I do often in the city because my car has the low speed/bumper to bumper cruise control which I like to use when I'm stuck in traffic.

There are people that don't like adaptive cruise control
Are they the same people that don't like power windows or keyless entry?

Yeah, this is mind boggling. Have these guys never been in a traffic jam? Never been stuck on a highway in traffic or when it's down to one lane and you're just sort of crawling along for an hour? There's nothing to not like, and you can press a button to turn it off if it's bothering you.
Same with lane keep. A thumb button to turn it off if you want to take the wheel for some twisties, but I love working with the car when it's somewhat in autopilot. So nice to just chill and enjoy the drive without having to be 1000% alert and in control every millisecond of an hours-long drive.
Also, Scroopy, there's no way on god's green earth that Kia was trying to throw you in front of oncoming traffic. They just don't do that. It's not a thing.

My only gripe with adaptive cruise is that it's too chill... Like, how am I supposed to sit back and let it do its thing if it leaves too much of a gap and won't, ahem, incentivize the struggler doing 112 to leave the left lane?

Doesn't yours have a distance setting?
Mind has 3
- Driving Miss Daisy distance
- Normal distance
- Hurry the #### up and move over distance

I'm actually with you&me on that. When it's time to bully a guy out of the left I flick it off, get up close and flash the brights. Maybe yours is better, though. Mine needs a bit of intervention to let people know I mean business.

I can get right up in their business. There is no confusion on what I want from them.

I think there's even more than 3 (I'll have to check), but even on the closest setting, it's still too far back... far enough so that in heavy traffic it leaves too much of a gap that it's easy for right laners (ewww) to jump in front of me... Gotta close that gap and keep it tight.
My favourite application is to find a fellow swift traveller on a relatively quite road, let them go out front as a patsy, set the adaptive slightly higher than the speed we're travelling and then let it do it's thing

That's a pretty infrequent issue and I can overcome the adaptive distance by applying the gas, without otherwise cancelling or changing any of the settings, so it automatically goes back to normal once the struggler has been dispatched... That way I get that feeling of involvement and superiority
Otherwise, I like it and there literally aren't any alternatives hahaha

Yeah you definitely have to learn how to use it, still have to pay attention and treat it like a cruise control and not just an auto speed button. Cancel when you want to coast, like going downhill. Or especially when you know someone is going to merge in front of you so the car doesn't slam on the brakes thinking you got cut off. Then just hit resume again, easy peasy.

I've been using NAPA AUTOPRO - BRAESIDE AUTOMOTIVE https://maps.app.goo.gl/UEWnDmwoMNAJL1xf8 for my two vehicles for several years. They are top-notch and trustworthy, in my experience with them.
