Unless its a concussion, I would be pretty surprised if Barkov doesn't play - its the SCF and the guy is a warrior. He's got an extra day to get right and will probably suit up with a shield if he has to.

Not that it really matters though. The only thing Bobs was giving up last night was the one shot he faced after standing in net for 26 minutes (of real time not hockey time) before seeing a puck on net.
The Foegle knee was borderline as both guys shifted at the last second.
But the Draisaitl thing is black and white/cut and dry.
Left his feet, led with his elbow, head was main point of contact, player injured.
HAS to be some sort of discipline.
|
Yeah, I really thought the Foegle knee was incidental.
The Draistl play has to result in a suspension though. The NHL risks the rest of the series turning into a blood bath without it. Look for Lomberg and Cousins to do be looking for the Oilers big 3 with their heads down.

I wondered if Maurice didn't say much because he was waiting for word on a possible suspension before mentioning Barkov's health but then I remembered that the NHL only levies suspensions if the other player is in fact injured or McDavid.

Without Barkov, this isn't a normal 2-0 series going forward.
If they don't suspend for that hit, given Barkov's value and Drai leaving his feet, I find it well within a reasonable possibility that we see Lomberg, Gadjovich, or Cousins draw in and McDavid gets hurt next game.
Not sure the league wants this to devolve into tribal warfare.

Problem is that plays into the oilers getting powerplays which is how they got to where they are now. The only way that works out for Florida is if they successfully injure McDavid. It can’t be a situation of it hurting him or making him fall down… he would have to be injured and leave the game. Otherwise, it’s just another McPowerplay.
You’re right that the league needs to step in and suspend Draisaitl so it doesn’t turn into that.

When Dops doesn't suspended Draisaitl I'd love for them to give a reason as to why they didn't deem the hit suspension worthy

I think if Barkov had a broken jaw we would know this already.
Is there a time of day when we could typically expect to hear any news from DOPS?

Panthers up 2-0 is obviously a great spot to be but the oilers just won't die so far these playoffs.
Down 3-2 to Van
Down 2-1 to Dallas and Down 2-0 in game 4 early
Just let them die this time please

This is what I'm worried about. Draisaitl knew exactly what he was doing there. The Oilers know that Barkov being out is likely their only shot at coming back and tying, and possibly winning the series. It's been fun watching the Oilers meltdown over these last two games, but this series isn't over yet. And Barkov missing games could very possibly turn things around for the Grease.

Absolutely has to be at least 1 game for Draisatl, otherwise we all know how this goes.
The whole purpose of DOPS is to manage the safety of players, if they dont do their job then you can be sure the Panthers will. And if that's the case, I'm here for it.

Should be a game. If you can get away with an elbow to the head and just get a two minute penalty, it just invites more of the same.

Precisely.
He's been down this road before and it cost him last time.
The team will have already been on the blower to NY about all of this stuff.

What is wrong with some of these media people? Sportsnet oiler fanboys are of course going to say Pissy got his ‘hands up high’ so they can defend their idol Pissy, but even some tool from the Athletic ( Nugent-Bowman) thinks it was fine. Elbow to jaw, clear as day. Imagine if chucky hit Mcdiver in that way. He’d be suspended for two plus games.

Boycott McDonald's for the rest of the Stanley Cup Finals. They have sent out a tweet that if McDiver brings the Cup back to Canada they will change an Edmonton McDonald's to McDavid's for a day. #boycott McDonald's#

Because he's an Oilers fanboy too. I don't know if he was working for them then but I've shared some of his wild takes on here over the years.

I wasn't around for the 80's Oilers, but isn't this what those scumbags did?
Employed criminals, had #1 of their supposed stars Mark Messier throw dirty elbows at people? Wayne diving and whining?
This teams has taken it to a new level of scum. Kane, Perry and Bouchard.
Star players having to resort to dirty tactics, cheap shots, diving. What a joke.
A bunch of people tell me omg look at how they play? I ask them you enjoy watching powerplay goals? You like 5 v 5 with a ton of inference run, clutching and grabbing so they can scoot out the zone.
