I think people are over reacting to this whole thing.

We don’t really need to twin when with almost no impact to anyone we are able to slow down water use such that the supplies are sustainable for the duration of the repair and it appears they have stocked adequate spare parts to limit the duration of the repair.

The system appears sufficiently redundant to allow the southern water treatment plant to supply the city at a rate that supplies enough water for no one to be put at risk.

They definitely need to do the analysis and implement recommendations as they investigate but so far the system appears to be robust.

Sarcee/Bow intersection is a mess of above and underground utilities. No thanks!

No. We should build enough redundancy that I can water my lawn 24/7 and never have to let the yellow mellow. /greentextincasethatwasn'tabundantlyobvious

On a slightly more serious note - I was down to half a rain barrel of water left, but last night's rain filled my 3x barrels right back up.

But Sim-City is fun.

At least until the aliens show up and ruin everything you built.

The guy that tried to ruin downtown with The Penetrator, right?

Tried to give him a handmade quilt that volunteers made for people after the floods. He was a complete prick.

Some interesting numbers from todays update

“An early estimate of the amount of water used on Sunday was 457 million litres of water. The available supply was around 620 million litres.

The city used 650 million litres last Wednesday before the break happened.”

Now Wednesday wasn’t a hot summer day but looks like even at 40% capacity we are close to break even

Also some interesting info on repairs and inspection. They did work on a different section in the spring and had more repairs planned for the fall. They also added new monitoring equipment.
