Meh. The market got bigger for teams looking for a goalie. I don't know that the goalie pool got much bigger. Maybe Ullmark, that's it.

It's also embarrassing how Barn Burner keeps letting him come on Calgary radio, and put down our players weekly.

Frank comes off very annoying, but he's usually right. He was right about the market and returns for Tanev and Hanifin. It's not an agenda against the Flames. He's just reporting what he's hearing, and he has legit sources.
Maybe you just rather live in a fantasy world about returns for Markstrom rather than accept what's actually out there, and get annoyed when someone poo-poos on your fantasies.

Agree. You also have two driving forces to emphasize 2024 as a year to try to pick high and often:
1) Team wants to compete sooner vs later. Picks in 2025 and later are less valuable than a typical team might view them.
2) Iginla's views on players (including personality, drive, growth, etc) is most valuable this year given how much of these kids he has seen first hand. Both in western hockey leagues but also east coast prep.

There's probably a whole pile of trashbags he hasn't "m'ladied" up north yet, not sure wtf he's doing trying to talk about the Flames. Come on Frank, they're not gonna wait forever for you to lay in the puddle.

lol ok.
This whole time I have said 10OA for 50% retained Markstrom was a fair deal.

Hanifin returned an unprotected first from a team not rumored to be in the mix...not sure how right he was there. Vegas was a WC team this year with next to no prospects or picks incoming, that could be a ####ing grand slam.

Ok...?
And maybe Markstrom 50% retained doesn't get you 10OA. How many times have you thought a deal was fair and we end up getting less?
What you think is fair doesn't dictate the market.

It's Vegas. That pick is going to be 24OA at most, two years away.
Keep dreaming.

Like him or not Seravelli was pretty much bang on when it came to the trades the Flames made at the deadline and the returns expected. It's tough for some to admit he's a lot more connected to what is going on than the fans here hope. I don't think he has anything against Calgary or the Flames, he is just sharing information that comes by him. What is hard to admit for some is the Flames reputation may not be the best and the view of our players is low for obvious reasons. Seravelli is not driven by clicks from Canadian markets so he can give us the unvarnished truth about what is going on out there. I'm not a fan of Seravelli but I can admit that he seems to have his finger on the pulse a whole lot more than some of the other "insiders" out there. Ignoring what he has to say because you don't like the message isn't very smart, not when he's been as accurate as he has been.

WC team that lost in round one this season...missed the playoffs 2 years ago. They were Vegas both times.
this post is ridiculous "24 at best" shows you are just here to talk everything down.

Gotta think even if there is a deal worked out by now, it wont be announced until the pick is up. Just in case a guy that was expected to be long gone is somehow available. Ie. if the Devils have a guy like Lindstrom super high on their list but he slips to 10

Yes with your fantasy returns.
Frank is no gospel, and he's certainly not "my boy", but if you want to stick to your own speculations, you can.
I'll listen to the speculations from the insiders.

Well for him to tell us the return will be less than at the deadline is BS. Does he know what the return was at the deadline?
3 other insiders have said that the potential is there for 10OA? One who has a family member as the assistant GM.
I highly doubt Dawson Mercer was ever in the deal. Based on what Fitzgerald said he said he made fair offer based on historical returns for goalies. You can look back, and it probably was Holtz and a protected 1st or later picks.

What fantasy returns have I talked about? Please tell me.
My fantasy return for Markstrom was a 3rd round pick and Holtz.

No, 24 is my expectation based on what that franchise has historically done. This is a team that buys superstars every time they have even a remotely "unsuccessful" season, and they bounce right back. Isn't that one of the main reasons we hate them? Look, I don't talk down the Flames, but if you always think the best is going to happen then yes, some things I say will come across Debbie Downer.

You know what, I don't care. I want 10OA too. I guess we will find out once the trade happens.

I said 10OA is fair with 2 years of 50% retention. If retention is out of the picture the return gets worse.

You said "24 at most" that is obviously debbie downer...its a late first AT WORST. There are only so many stars out there and so much cap space...with no firsts and no prospects how do you suppose they make deadline deals over the next two years? They have no 25 1st either. Vegas is gonna crash, they have already had poor seasons...lets just hope 26 matches up, it certainly seems possible. Stone is running out of fake injuries to keep them under the cap.

They are aggressive. They will ship guys out to get picks to flip.
It probably wont be as easy as its been so far for them.
