I think of myself as a bit introverted and a little bit socially awkward as well but my reaction to that situation, which would never happen of course, would be to say: "ok guys, thanks but I'm out with my girlfriend right now and kind of need to get going. If you want we can take a quick picture but you're a little over the top and I've really got to go".

To just pretend they're not even there is just weird. I think I would even find it more normal if he got mad and said something along the lines of: "Guys, enough, give me my space" than how he handled it.

I guess, in fairness not generally reserved for this thread, we didn't see the lead-up to when the filming started and maybe something was said or done before, but...weird.

My thought too in that we don’t know the lead up. The fact he was going to get the beer and not say Broberg or someone else is also very weird. These people are idiots though. Don’t touch people you don’t know famous or otherwise is a pretty easy thing to live by.

I'd respect him more if he told those people to #### off and not touch him when they crossed the line. Even if in the most kind way possible.

He seems terrified that any kind of reaction at all will get him thrown in the doghouse because he's the league's poster boy and is probably being recorded.

The girlfriend (fiance?) cannot feel more attracted witnessing that either. Any woman would want to feel safe and that her guy won't just become catatonic or melt into a wall when strange people show up and violate personal boundaries.

This is one of the worst takes I've ever seen. It's the same sweatpants and good shoes mentality that leads to fights every game in Edmonton. Did you want McDavid to escalate the situation beyond literally nothing as it was? I can throw plenty of shade at McDavid but pretending his fiancee looks down on him because he acted exactly how a grown man would and should is some of the dumbest stuff I've read.

First of all, that's quite the exaggeration which demonstrates a misunderstanding.

Secondly, initiating aggression (like the ingrates at ice district) is not what that means. It means speaking up and having boundaries when people are leaning on your car and touching you. Connor showed none there. That's the point.

You find the kindest way to tell them off that isn't provocative or escalating but is firm, and have the body language to match, instead of going into a fawn state. A mindful partner should be able to step into that space when it's called for. Otherwise they'll feel like the most unsafe person to be with if an actually dangerous situation arises... cause they'll just slump and duck away even if violated and leave you to your own devices.
