It's not a coaching thing, he was poor under Sutter the year after his extension, and poor under Huska as well. Ripped it up in a contract year.

With regards to the 11th OA pick, Friedman thinks Buffalo really wants a top 6 forward.
Friedman thinks Canucks aren't far from Zadorov's number to stay. Doesn't think it is impossible.
Canucks willing to go 7x7 with Lindholm, but Friedman is not sure that will get it done. Canucks players are campaigning Lindholm to find a way to stay.

This screams Coleman - Best Spot for a tough gritty player to drag them into the playoffs who can score 30 goals on the 3rd line of a non playoff team.

If Craig can turn Coleman into the 10th OA pick we’re making a golden statue for him at the new rink.

It's likely the Sabres are one of the teams on his no-trade clause list. He and his family have embraced Calgary so it's no slam dunk he signs off on a trade to Buffalo.

I’m not sure the league looks at, nor values, Coleman as a top 6 forward.
Coupled with his salary and term, I don’t think he’s a huge trade chip.

If CP has taught me anything, it's that our players all have little to no trade value.

CP is a place that told me Zadorov and Tanev would get 1sts, Lindholm might get us the 3rd overall pick.

Is there a poster who said that? I am on here a fair bit and don’t recall that being said ever (about the 3rd overall or Zadorov). For better or worse Conroy decided to go with a former 2nd and a 2nd for Tanev, which if you traded the placements of those picks would get you a late first round pick.

How is Coleman not a top 6 forward? Guy gets 35-45 even strength points every year while being solid defensively.
Pretty much got the same amount of even strength points as Keller or Caufield.
He's like a template for a solid all around 2nd line winger. Age and contract hurt his value but doesn't take away from what he is right now.

You don’t recall Portzline talking about Lindholm for the Fantilli pick and then people discussing the merits of the deal and how it made sense for both people?
When the Zadorov trade request happened there were certainly some who thought he would get the team a late 1st at the deadline.
Point is there are people who undervalue and overvalue the Flames assets. Majority of trades that break usually have underwhelmed some until people wrap their head around it with the exception of the Lindholm trade that was almost universally loved

Negative trade value. You must have been asleep during that class.

Coleman is the exact type of player Buffalo needs if they actually want to compete. Which means they definitely are not looking at him.
Doubt either player would do it but I would do
Coleman for 11th overall and Skinner. The Sabres save 4.1 million for each of the next 3 years and get a guy who actually knows how to win. Flames get the 11th overall pick.

There were people that were saying Zadorov was the Flames best defender and were pissed at the return. Expecting top prospects for Hanifin etc

Weird, I remember people saying that Hanifin sucked, he was soft, disappeared in the playoffs and that we would be lucky to get a 2nd and a C prospect for him.

Oh yeah, there was defineetly lots of discussion over targeting the Blue Jackets 3OA pick, like it was feasible, and posters were pulling others back from "offering too much" lol. Some of the Markstrom discussion is wading into that territory, too.
Markstrom AND Pospisal for the 10th OA? MASSIVE overpay by the Flames

Go read through the Hanifin trade return thread. If the CP consensus was he wasn't worth anything then it is a really confusing thread...
https://forum.calgarypuck.com/showth...195445&page=47
People have suggested the 11th overall for Mangiapane and Coleman.
Expectations are usually on the high side here

People also whined all season long that Lindholm would only net a 3rd and B prospect. Already complaining about a trade that never even happened.
Conroy took Vancouver to the cleaners in the Lindholm trade.

I don't recall any of that. I recall optimistic people thinking Z could get a 2nd which had the negative crowd bitching that we will be disappointed with the return and that Z was not worth anything. When the return was a 3rd they bitched about that. Tanev could have fetched a 1st if we took on salary, instead we got a 2nd and a prospect the team liked, that was an organization decision. Lindholm was nothing but negative speculation on his value, many posters thought we would have to give him away. Conroy hit a home run instead.

Coleman would also have a lot of value on the trade market.
He was a integral add by Tampa to get them over the hump and win 2 cups.
He has also been really good here. It's no surprise that we had a big season his 1st season here, and he was also a key member to get the team to finally show up in the Dallas series.
It's a shame he will likely be done here by the time this team is competitve again.
