Major Water Main Break in Bowness Area

I saw the pictures on Reddit last night. Just got the emergency alert saying water usage should be avoided at all costs, including showering.https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calga...ures-1.7226254

		| On the evening of Wednesday, June 5 The City discovered an extensive water main break in the Bowness area. This is a significant break on one of the critical transmission lines (called a feeder main) that enables us to move water across the city.
It has caused water outages in Bowness and is impacting water pressure in several other areas, including the communities of Parkdale, West Hillhurst, Hillhurst and Scarboro.

A boil water advisory is in place for Bowness, along with mandatory outdoor water restrictions, voluntary indoor water restrictions, and there are traffic impacts to the area. More information is below.

I got the alert about 6:30. Scared the heck out of my dogs. And I was hoping to sleep in today.

Any idea if this affects city wide or just north of the river?

City wide alert...they just used the emergency broadcast option.
 Avoid ALL water use.

If my alarm didn't wake me up at 6:30 the emergency alert at 6:37 sure as hell would have. Sheesh.
Pretty sure the south side of the city, fed from the Glenmore Reservoir, would be entirely unaffected by this break, but anyway... |

I live right at the top of Home Road and our water seems normal.
I was watching the news at 3am and the entire Safeway parking lot in Montgomery was flooded and 16th ave next to it looked like a river.

Yeah it was actually in Montgomery by the Dairy Queen next to the Safeway... I've seen water spilling out there before but obviously not this much.
Apparently people were flooding (ha) 911 with calls about their water being off. Morons.

Emergency alert and the news say city wide, so maybe let's go with that instead of playing armchair expert.

City wide alert tells me that this break is significant enough and will probably take a while to fix resulting in water being redirected (is that possible?) from the Glenmore for the whole city now.
At least that’s my take as an armchair expert

Man, if one of my lines failed and impacted this many people I’d go to jail. Why the hell do we allow this. This line would score pretty damn high on the old risk matrix on the consequence side. Imagine if this was a gas line? CEO would be lynched. But it’s water so whatevs.

Pretty sure Kenny or Harper are responsible, or all the vax from big pharma in the hydrosphere that are the cause of the erosion. Obama might have played a part as well.
