Would anyone here support a Florida bar for the finals? Actual serious question.

Seems like one of those things people would cheer on in Calgary as a decision but then not follow up in going there.

Yeah that's fair too. I think at the end of the day, most people who are 30+ really just care about "how much of a pain in the ass is it for me to get to this place, and how much work am I gonna have to do to get a beer and something to eat once I'm there."
...but also the place could be literally right across the street from me with self-pour beer taps at every table, and an all you can eat buffet... and I still wouldn't go if they were celebrating the Oilers in the finals and the place was packed with Oiler jerseys.

Who was that loser bar owner rocking a Oilers jersey on global yesterday?
If you want to support the Oilers scum, that cool. Just don't except support once you need the Calgarians back.

I don't even think they make it past Tampa. They played really well, and it was close despite the Panthers winning in 5 games. Vasy, Hedman, and Stamkos were really, really good, and without a Barkov, I'd bet that Kucherov and Point would have gone off on the Oiler defense and Skinner before he got "good".

It's what I have been saying, Florida went through a gauntlet of goalie. The only team I didn't think was strong was Boston, and I said so in the series thread at the time.
They also did it in 5, 6, 6 games. You can say the Ranger series should have been a sweep if not for unreal goaltending.
The Oilers took on impotent opponents. The Kings series was a joke. Dallas wasn't tried, they looked poor vs Colorado. I am not sure what Vancouver was.

In the previous three rounds, Oilers was the better team against LA, even without the help of the refs, better than the Kings wasn't anything to shout about.
Against a depleted Canucks team, beating them still nothing to shout about. Against a Stars team that failed to show up, may be they can feel good about that round.
But now, they are against a Panthers team that's deeper than the previous three teams, the best goalies. Panthers won't need to play a scary cat style, they can forechecking the hell out of those diving losers because Bob will be there guard the door.
Oilers will lose to the eventual SC Champs third time in a row.

Not sure, but on 17th the owner of Trolley 5 (possibly part owner, I don't know) is an Oilers fan, and it's been turned into essentially Oilers Central during the playoffs, so it could have been him.
In the 2022 BoA series, they had 2 bouncers out front in Oilers jerseys (1 was a retro blue Gretzky). Especially considering that was Melrose back in the 2004 run (aka Red Mile Ground Zero), it's beyond appalling.
I was going to another bar on the Mile instead due to it, met a few people there who said they're boycotting Trolley 5 for the playoffs over it ha-ha, good. In short, I'd be fully supportive of a Florida-themed bar downtown, as would other like-minded good citizens here.

Local fan stores should load up on Panthers flags and swag.
If they come out of the gates well and get out to a series lead it would be fun to fly cats flags and drive past these pro-Coiler bars.
Some Tkachuk mug stickers would also be great.

Florida welcomed him and all that he is. They opened the door and Barkov himself gave him a copy of his own keys to the kingdom. They allowed the team to be remolded around Tkachuk's style of play. The back to back Finals Panthers are not Huberdeau's perimeter Panthers... they're Tkachuk's in-your-face, drive the net and fight you at center ice Panthers.
Barky and co. welcomed him in and welcomed the change he brought. In turn, he adapted his game and matured with the newly acquired responsibility that being a real leader brings.
You listen to Barkov talk about Tkachuk, and he says things like "Chucky's a real leader on this team. In the room and on the ice, his impact has been huge for us."
Listen to Tkachuk talk about why they've been successful, and he says "100% buy-in from everyone on this team. The way we play is very hard to play, but we like to think it's even harder to play against."
We didn't get that Tkachuk here because we didn't want that Tkachuk here, and that's why Tkachuk didn't want to be here. Florida was willing to become a villain-esque team that no one wants to play against, and they brought in a Darth Vader to make it happen.
All that aside, though, the real answer to the question in the article is 100% Florida, because "f### Edmonton" supercedes literally anything else. I don't care what the parameters are, the answer is always anyone but Edmonton.

It's not a Flames fan thing it's a aging Gio and a aging Lucic that didn't want that chucky. A bunch of past their prime vets that use to but couldn't handle that kind of play game in and out told him to tone it down. Brady plays a similar style and early on his team has always had his back. The fact for almost a decade Calgary has started to become a team to get your last or second last contract has not been helping.

Although I think Florida takes it in 5, I really don’t want to see Tkachuk win a single thing.
Anyway, when Edmonton loses it would be fun to see an Edmonton losing crowds running through the streets of Calgary and Vancouver. Make it happen.

Pierre LeBrun with a piece this morning polling HC’s scouts and hockey execs on the final.
16-1 head coaches have Florida winning. LOL

I haven't been able to enjoy these playoffs at all due to the Oilers consistently moving on and stressing me out.
It will be totally worth it seeing McDavid and Drai crying while the other team lifts the cup.

If we had to sewer the franchise by taking on Huby and trading Tkachuk and Bennett so the oilers wouldn't win a cup... honestly I could get on board with that.
I see this less as the darkest timeline and more like "trust in god, everything happens for a reason"

I remember that time Bennett scored four goals, and the guys on the ice were telling him to tone it down. If Iggy was on that team he would be telling everybody to turn it up. So maybe our leadership group was part of the problem.

Saw a Sportsnet package no sound this morning at the gym. Almost 20 minutes of Oiler coverage.
They had a Tkachuk piece, which featured 1 Tkachuk goal and the rest was Oiler highlights about Matthew Tkachuk.

The worst part of that McDavid goal is that you immediately knew it would be forced into our necks 70,000 times afterward. It’s relentless.

Yeah, but who is complaining? I've heard media complain... they aren't on those private jets. I think there is a big much ado about nothing for the travel distance.

Imagine complaining about travelling to Florida.
I would be upset having to head to Edmonton after 5-6 days in Florida as well.
LeBrun is the biggest whiner about the schedule. Guy spends 2.5 months at a cottage in Ontario, and whines about the season going to long so he can't vacation 10 days earlier.
They had flight delays going to Dallas for game 5. A lot of whining going on during that as well. Welcome to the real world.
