Chicago not taking Demidov to be 100+ point linemates with Bedard for the next 15+ years would make me soooo happy

Pure speculation on my part, but I don’t think Tij Iginla pursued this career path to not be as good his dad.

I would guess he’s spent every day of his hockey playing career trying to emulate, and then exceed, his father.

So far, he’s doing a good job.

He had a better draft year than his dad - 17 more goals than Jarome, and 12 more points, in eight fewer games.

He moves like his dad.

He shoots it like his dad.

Maybe he’s not a 1300 point forward.

But there’s good reasons to think he might be.

And 80% of 1300 is still a 1000 point player.

70% is 900.

Of all these kids, he might be one of the surest bets to hit his potential because he’s been guided by a Hall of Famer every day of his life.

Although it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see Dickinson or Buium go second at all. A lot if teams are going to prize a stud defender over a skilled winger.

Well, Levshunov is no slouch either. And you need to find someone to finally bump Jones off of the top pairing.

He's right. If he's there at 9 and he's the best player on your board then take him but trading up to draft him earlier would be a fireable offense IMO.

By far the only place where people are convinced Tij is going before 9 is here and that is only because his last name is Iginla.
I have 17 current rankings in my own spreadsheet so I went and calculated how often each player is ranked in the top 8:

17 (100%) - Celebrini & Demidov
15 (88%) - Levshunov
14 (82%) - Dickinson
13 (76%) - Catton
12 (71%) - Buium
11 (65%) - Lindstrom
9 (53%) - Parekh & Silayev
6 (35%) - Iginla
4 (23%) - Eiserman
3 (18%) - Helenius & Yakemchuk
1 (6%) - Brandsegg-Nygard, Greentree, Sennecke

Based on this it's pretty certain that Celebrini & Demidov will be gone. I wouldn't call anybody else certain though it's very likely that Levshunov, Dickinson, Catton and Buium are gone and then 50/50 for Lindstrom/Parekh/Silayev.

There's far to much smoke around Iginla now, most of these projections you talk about are mid season ranks, Montreal and Ottawa have scouted him more than any other player recently and just last week I was told Columbus has big interest but it depends on how Lindstrom does at the combine.

I think he goes 4, 5 or 7th

Maybe Lindstrom drops to the Flames but only because he's a massive risk.

I actually think there's far more momentum right now around Parekh and Dickinson based off their Mem Cup showings.

No, most of those projections are post draft lottery. Wheeler just put another one out, Iginla projected 14th.

The draft insider (didn't catch which one) they had on 960 the other day seemed higher on Yakemchuk than Dickinson, with the one caveat of how Yakemchuk's age factors in.

He liked Dickinson's ceiling a lot, but said that he left you wanting in terms of engagement and intensity.

His argument was that it's better to have a guy that you need to tame rather than one that you need to push to get going. Went on to talk about how much of a warrior Yaks is, while also being kind of a throwback in his style (tough SOB).

Of the rankings Bingo is using, I believe 17 of 20 were from prior to May 1.

LOL, Wheeler had him 12th 3 weeks ago, Scott Wheeler is not a good source on what scouts are projecting.

Would you like a friendly $100 bet Tij goes top 9?

The content of this last few pages makes me more confident than ever that Tij will play centre in the NHL and he may even be better than Drai. Unfortunately, he's also probably going top 5 in the draft using the same logic.

Some people are saying with certainty that he's gone by 9.

You're saying with certainty that he will still be there at 9.

The reality is neither position is known at this point and neither side should be taking such a strong stance in either direction.

2-14 in this draft is a crap shoot. Especially if guys like Yakemchuk or Sennecke end up going higher than they are slotted now and end up in the top 10.

The only certainty in this draft is that Celebrini is 1st overall.

1) Celebrini

2-14) Demidov, Levshunov, Silayev, Dickenson, Lindstrom, Parekh, Buium, Iginla, Catton, Helenius, Yakemchuk, Eiserman, Sennecke

Nobody knows how picks 2-14 are going to go at this point and somebody like Hemming, Brandsegg-Nygard, etc could even jump into that top 14.

All I know is the Flames should really be trying to add another pick in the top 15, which would make me feel a lot better if they do take Iginla.

I have never said with "certainty" he will be gone by 9. I said I would be shocked if he was and I stand by that.
