Agreed. Florida is absolutely stacked and has the superstar talent to match the wonder twins. They also have great special teams. If any remaining team can prevent the unthinkable, it's them.

Paul Coffey, the modern day Jacques Lemaire in terms of coaching suffocating defence.

Does Florida have anybody who’s actually willing to hit something?

Yes, but they won't. What would make me suspicious is if they play the Oilers, is if they end up looking like Vancouver or Dallas.

Yeah, but do they want to put the Oilers on the powerplay the entire series?

I've mentally prepared myself for the Oilers winning the cup. The worst timeline continues

Everything about the Flames is stale, new ownership and management can't come soon enough
If anything it should tell the Flames and their few fans that are petrified of a rebuild, that tanking works. Even a mismanaged sewer of an organization like the Oilers is going to get their shot at the cup, thanks to having 2 of the elite forwards in the game -- that can only be acquired by getting high top picks. There is no middle ground.

What if they get a RW like Necas though? Could change some things.

Let's get real, the Flames won't take any lessons from this. I don't know if I want to either, but you're not wrong. Sucks that this is the easiest path to "building" a Championship team.

How? By hooking up jumper cable to your ears and starting the engine?

Looking for ideas.

Oilers are still a bad example since it took 4 1st overall picks (including a generational talent) and top ten picks in 11 out of 13 seasons...but yeah you can overcome bad management if you suck for long enough.
