Yeah I'm jaded because it's the Oilers doing this, not going to mince words... but we can't be the only group that feels this way?

The problem with "building teams" is the cap prevents you from keeping your team.

So many thoughts on Tanev. He is a difference maker but now it harkens back to the concern from any acquiring team which was the real possibility of injury. His return may stand in the way of the Stars advancing and also defeating the conditional pick from Dallas (which is interesting since it has the possibility of being the most closely connected condition between player and success). If he does miss time then it’s the second time the Coilers benefit from his absence in the POs.
Or maybe much ado about nothing where they move on without him successfully or he plays great with a broken foot.

The Stars were crushing the league without Tanev. If they play up to their level Edmonton doesn't stand a chance.

Same thing happened with the Flames in 2022 in game 2. Got up early again and should have got the memo after how they almost blew game 1 but sat back allowing biased officiating in the second period to tie the game and then no showed in the third.

That, and they seemed deathly afraid of that McLotteryballs counter-attack after the first 4 periods of the series, especially with how Markstrom was playing and Tanev out.
Didn't want to get caught pinching and get burned, which killed their intense offensive pressure they succeeded with most of the season. Basically stopped playing to their identity due to it, and it killed them.

Not ideal but Nils Lundqvist had a good season. Surprised they weren't playing him in the playoffs. He'll be fresh!

The Flames fell 1 Vegas win short of an upgraded pick in the Hanifin deal.
The Flames fell 1 Canucks win short of an upgraded pick in the Lindholm deal.
Naturally the Flames will fall 1 Stars win short of an upgraded pick in the Tanev deal.
Oilers in 7, bet on it.

Haha 2 colliding forces but we all know in those cases the negative Flames outcome prevails so still oilers in 7, possibly 6

Tanev has nothing to do with offensive output nor elite goaltending which they have.
If the Stars are that fragile that those areas don't continue to click in his absence then the Stars shouldn't be here at all.
Tanev hasn't even been particularly great in this series either. Been on the ice/ a part of a few key goals against.
Seems his first two series were far better.

Generational talents have always resulted in long playoff runs and championships. Most teams that have won cups needed those players.
It sucks that our hated rivals have benefitted from elite draft picks, but that's the system. You get no victory from "building the right way" whatever that means. There is only wins and losses.
The Oilers are still going to lose this series by the way.

Failure to build the rest of the team after the generational players the right way is what's going to lead to their failure to close a championship.
You still have to check the rest of the boxes as a gm once you have difference makers in place.
It's not completely just the luck of the draw.

Ugghh...Oilers/Panthers final is a bit of worst case scenario for me. An Oilers win is bad for obvious reasons. Not ready to see either of Gaudreau/Tkachuk holding up a cup.

I think what annoys me the most is the amount of interference the Oilers get away with. It is literally night and day compared to what other teams are allowed to do/get away with. It isn't horseshoes they have shoved up their butts it is the refs/league themselves.
The embellishment is bad too, don't get me wrong, but the interference is what is getting them the wins.
