I wonder how long until a retrial for a hung jury.. Trump spending another 6 weeks in court probably appeals less to him than a guilty verdict that he can dodge consequences for while he goes through the years of appeals..

As a penalty for violating the gag orders, he should get an electrical jolt every time he falls asleep in the courtroom. I would find that far more satisfying than seeing him get a brief jail sentence.

It's a reasonable question as to just how far Trump will be able to push his fascist revenge fantasies during a second term. Can he gut the civil service and fill it with sycophant true-believers? Can he ignore the rule of law and just how far can he push unilateral executive action?
The prosecutions and even threats of jail time certainly give him the motivation to go balls to the wall fascist.
I don't think Trump is going to play out any of his stated revenge fantasies when he gets elected, but if he actually sees any time in a prison and is still elected, he will definitely seek out and get revenge. Him being imprisoned and still getting elected is a bad scenario...
They should exile him to one of the Florida Keys. Just put him on an island, tell him he's president and give him a steady stream of porn, McDonalds, Diet Coke and NewsMax telling him everything he says is happening and is great. We'll never hear from him again.
During that time, I signed an expansive nondisclosure agreement that promised a fine of $5 million and even jail time if I were to ever divulge what actually happened. It expired this year.

“Why didn’t he just fire her?” Trump asks, referring to Omarosa. It’s a reasonable question. Given that this the first time we’ve ever been in this situation, none of this is something we expected.
“That’s not his job,” Bienstock says to Trump. “That’s yours.” Trump’s head continues to bob.
“I don’t think he knew he had the ability to do that,” Kepcher says. Trump winces again.
“Yeah,” he says to no one in particular, “but, I mean, would America buy a n— winning?”
Kepcher’s pale skin goes bright red. I turn my gaze toward Trump. He continues to wince. He is serious, and he is adamant about not hiring Jackson.
Bienstock does a half cough, half laugh, and swiftly changes the topic or throws to Ross for his assessment. What happens next I don’t entirely recall. I am still processing what I have just heard. We all are. Only Bienstock knows well enough to keep the train moving. None of us thinks to walk out the door and never return. I still wish I had.

Thanks for sharing! A very long read which I'll probably return to this weekend, but interesting in so many respects (especially since I remember that first series). Nothing written seems hard to believe; what is hardest to believe is how far we've come that it probably won't make any waves whereas a story like this about a presidential candidate 15 years ago would have been front page news.

I mean that's the sad part. In 2016 it might have made a difference to show the Apprentice viewers that "yo - this ain't real, and the man is a idiotic, racist, sexist, con man!"
In 2024, it's a resounding "yeah he did all that, he's exactly who we thought he was. Shrug."

Wouldn’t have made a difference in 2016 either. Don’t forget Grab them by the #####, Mexicans are rapists, arguing about his dick size on a debate stage, and that’s just off the top of my head. Literally nothing moved the needle.
The thing with the Apprentice was that it was actually a pretty good show for the 1st 2 years. Then Trump went off the rails and started firing people unexpectedly for the ratings.
But you could tell how terrible of a speaker he was with all those cut scenes at the end.

The show was good early on, but I don’t think it had to do much with Trump. Later seasons it just became dumb with the drama and crap trying to make it more like Survivor and other reality show competitions at the time.
