I'm still not sure the Flames will be looking for defensemen.
I think they're okay with giving some space for Solovyov, Grushnikov and Miromanov the chance to prove they're full timers. Plus they still have Pachal and Poirier who could earn some spot duty.

Dumba would be a really good add, especially if they trade Anderson...which I think they should. If it's a 1 year deal, hopefully he does well and can be traded at the deadline.

I agree and I've said before that you don't have to trade everyone to get that top pick. But they don't want to retool for a year, resign a bunch of guys to long term deals and never get that top 3 pick because they always have a good enough team to finish around 10th last every year.
I think this will be a rebuild but most the moves so far favour young roster players and NHL ready prospects over getting a bunch of draft picks. Players rumored to be traded either didn't want to sign or we have players ready to displace those players (Markstrom).
There is still no talks of moving on from Rasmus, Coleman, Weegar, Kadri, Huberdeau (good luck), Backlund and so on. Mangiapane might be the other guy we move but so far, the moves are guys who might want out over making tough calls on guys who want to stay.
This summer will be a big one, I'm ok to keep some guys but if we start signing everyone then this is a retool not a rebuild and I don't know if this team is anywhere near good enough to retool without getting a top draft pick at least once.

He loves the Oilers though. There’s a twinkle in his eye when he talks about them.

I'm not sure how he gets so many interviews.
The guy just seems arrogant and he is a closet Oilers fan. His whole thing about Calgary should be cheering for Canada's team and it isn't the same rivalry as Philly/Pittsburgh just came across tone deaf.

Yeah, he I am pretty sure he doesn't like the Flames. I wish the Barn Burner guys would find someone else to give his air time to. There are better insiders that don't try to roast the Flames all the time. It was worse when Darryl Sutter was still around, but it still comes through a lot.

yikes, wasn't listening but I'm sure not going to let some guy born in Philadelphia in 1988 tell this codger who grew up with 1980s BOA what is and isn't

Did he actually say that? Absolutely ridiculous lol. My favorite bit was when he was on Barnburner the day after the Oilers beat the Canucks in Game 7 and he was all pumped saying that was an amazing game and that's what playoff hockey is all about. Boomer and Pinder quickly pointed out they didn't think that, and that it was a lame effort by the Canucks until the final 8 minutes. Needless to say the dude started pouting and said "Okay we can move on" after he couldn't convince them that it was a great game

If he was born in 1988 and grew up in Philadelphia, he had the Legion of Doom era at the most impressionable time of being a fan. Why does he care about the Oilers?

Im pretty sure he’s the owner/creator of Daily Face-Off. Which owns the Nation Network. Frank is basically their boss as far as I’m aware

Frank is neither the owner nor the creator of DFO, which is owned by NN, not the other way around. It existed long before he joined a couple years ago. (I joined DFO not long after he did).

Wow. If so, that's a dumb take from him.
There's definitely more hate between the cities than PIT/PHI simply because hockey matters more to people here than it does there, on average.

Seravalli seems kind of a grump, and it seems that Pat Steinberg treats him with kid gloves, but Seravalli was complimentary of Conroy’s moves this year. From X:
Monster job by #Flames# Craig Conroy in some really difficult circumstances.
OUT: Toffoli, Zadorov, Lindholm, Tanev, Hanifin.
IN: Two 1sts, 2nd, four 3rds, 4th, 5th, Sharangovich, Kuzmenko, Grushnikov, Jurmo, Miromanov, Brzustewicz.

He's probably not wrong on Mangiapane, small wingers coming off down seasons don't tend to fetch a lot.
Markstrom they missed peak return at the deadline with New Jwesey I think, but should be able to get an okay return still.
