I don't think that fantasy mock draft has been updated in a while if people keep getting Hage with the Vancouver pick.

I really hope Silayev goes before we pick. That's going to leave us a great option at #9.

Obviously teams are going to have their own unique view on tiers, but using yours just for fun, I would select the following players:

 9 - Iginla
 28 - Mews
 64 - Jecho
 74 - Muggli
 84 - Koivu
 |
I'll go:

9-Iggy/ Lindstrom
28- Mews
41- Miettinen
64- Zether
74- O'Reilly
84- Franson

Just for s**ts and giggles.

For what it's worth, I sat beside a Blackhawks scout a number of months back. It was a really interesting conversation and we got to talking about the 2024 draft.
He said the Flames were drafting Iginla, no matter what. Said they loved him.

Take it for what it's worth...likely just a scout's opinion and not hard fact. But it's a data point.

Do you worry about the give a crap meter on Mews? I was reading a report that included: " I can find too many instances this year where he was so defensively disengaged; being slow to get back on defense following a bad pinch, cheating the defensive zone, failing to play with physical intensity and allowing his man to get inside leverage too easily." I hadn't seen that before and makes a little nervous if the Flames pick him.

If anything, that has more to do with age and maturity, and the fact that he only started playing D a few years ago than GAF. He has a good compete level, and plays a solid 200-ft game, but he can put himself out of position on occasion looking for offense.

This is a great analysis, I was going to add that his defensive game is raw and he's definitely adapting to that side of the game.

But there's no denying his offensive flare and sound skating.
Very poised with the puck and his first pass/transition game is advanced given his positional change.

I'd be very happy with Mews @ 28 especially if we go forward with the #9 pick.

The Oilers just need to hurry up and lose, Dallas just needs to hurry up and win the cup, and the draft just needs to happen already.

there is a podcast on youtube where he discusses his rankings. He specifically talks about Iginla and why he thinks he is lower compared to other lists.

Thanks. I don't know how I missed that. In that case, I'd take Basha at #41.

9 - Iginla
28 - Mews
41 - Basha
64 - Jecho
74 - Muggli
84 - Koivu
