Great idea, take pictures and post them here.

Seems reasonable to me FWIW. Probably will be more durable than paint.

So code requires that the garage be sealed properly from the rest of the house to prevent CO seeping in. Any shared walls between the house and garage should already be drywalled, taped and mudded. Is that the case?

That’s where I was going with my attached/unattached question.

Honestly I wouldn't. Wallpaper is hard to do and will look ugly if not done well and for a garage will probably look outdated pretty fast. Not to mention the ceiling will be very hard for you to DIY.

I would just paint it yourself and skip the mudding.

Or, why not try to mud/tape yourself? If it ends up looking a little wonky, so what? It's a garage, no one will care. Good opportunity to learn/practice how to do it.

I still have no clue what this means and I don't get the situation. What is on your tiles?

Is it easer to replace the tile than clean it?
Is it possible to just rent or buy a power washer and DIY?

Seems weird and more effort than expected. You're probably better off DIY. Get a paint sprayer and spray paint yourself all in for a few hundred bucks and you get to keep the sprayer and paint. You might want a good paint/make sure that you do like 2 coats so it's night and thick/slightly more moisture proof.

You could even pair it up with some other project in your home and just use the paint sprayer/buy extra of the same paint to spray your garage.

A guy I know told me he sprayed the entire garage in less than an hour. Didn't bother much with tape or plastic. He spent an extra $25 bucks on a top and turpentine and just mopped the stuff that got onto the garage floor.

Maybe they mean efflorescence, which is the white powder you get on concrete or bricks or whatever when there's water migration and it evaporates leaving whatever's in the water (salt?) behind.

If it's on outdoor tiles not sure where that'd come from.

Cleaning it the Internet suggests a mild acid but probably depends on what is actually being left behind.

That'd make easy more sense than something frizzing and foamy.

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dict.../effervescence

I use cleaning vinegar for hard water scaling stuff like that. Better than regular white vinegar. Not sure if it'll work on that but worth trying. Buying a power washer to diy is what I'd try next. Can use the washer for other stuff.

I assumed this was a euphemism and would recomend kleenex or an old gym sock.

Testing multi-quote. Please insert juvenile comment from above, here. (D'oh, realizing I could have quoted myself. Next time I guess.)

Not gonna lie, pretty pleased with how that turned out, what I said about my multi-quote, and very unlikely what Indes will be saying about his wallpaper project.

Skip wood, cover with pvc panels, washdown proof.

If I needed a bunch of slatwall for a large project, what's the best source? Wait for a costco sale on proslat, or is there some aliexpress type site I can slow boat over a big enough order?

Looking for about 50 linear feet and about 16 feet high.

Could you try home depot for pro volume pricing and also consider applying for a new credit card that gives like 5% cash back for the first few thousand you spend?

I also wonder if you could contact a smaller hardware store and ask them if there's some product you could get a discount on if you bulk order it?

50' X 16' seems like it'd be a pretty big order.

We're looking at having the upper deck built on our walkout basement finally. A few years after we moved in we put in a stamped concrete deck downstairs, and when we did that we had them put in concrete pilings for the eventual top part of the deck.

Now that I'm thinking of doing the top part I'm thinking of the permit and what they'll need. I'm not sure if "sure we did them 15 years ago" will cut it. I couldn't find any pictures of when they were doing it either.

This is the idea

Though we're only doing the part on the left hand side of the render, not the part across the back or on the right hand side.

The pilings are at the 45 degree corners where the cantilever starts and then one half way between those.

Any ideas on how to "prove" they exist for the purposes of a permit?

My only two ideas are to either dig from the sides of the deck enough to expose the pilings or to drill though the top with a long enough concrete drill to verify it's concrete down far enough. The ones on the sides seem like wouldn't be that much digging but the one in the middle might be tougher (that's almost 2' of overhang).

The concrete drill they're going to have to drill holes for the things to mount the poles anyway but I'm kind of doubting they'd have a concrete drill bit long enough, and not sure pictures of that still bringing up concrete instead of dirt would be enough for a permit.

Sonar imaging??

Any other ideas? Or am I hooped?
