Looks like the Hitmen are landing Kraken Assistant coach McFarland for their new HC:

What's the most you'd give him in terms of AAV and especially ter?. 6x$6 has been thrown around, you up for that?
I'd probably top out at 6x6, yes. Going by 10 points per million, I think he can be a recurring 60 point player at least. He was a 70 point player for his few months with the Flames.

And he’d have zero to negative trade value on that contract. It’s exactly the type of signing that got the Flames in cap trouble during Treliving’s tenure.

6x6 Kuzmenko is the last thing we need right now.

Not sure how anyone can think a team with a top-6 that includes an aging Huberdeau and Kuzmenko for the next 7 years will win anything.

6x6 for a one-way 60 point winger with 80%oz starts until he is 35 is not what this team should be doing right now.

Someone comparing to Panarin with the oz starts... Panarin put up 120 points this year..

Is 1m per 10 points still a thing for forwards? Feels like that's been thrown around since the cap was like 60m

Kadri had 75pts this year.

He is the only one. Neal cracked 70 points once and had not even been on a 70 point pace in 4 years when the Flames signed him. He was a 40-50 point guy when the Flames signed him.

Once he was healthy and learned the system Kuzmenko was on a 128 point pace to finish the year, so....

Kuzmenko is a trade deadline move all day long for me. If a team wants to add scoring (Islanders, Preds to name two) wants step up and offer up a first, maybe more?, at the draft, the Flames need to consider that.

I think most likely scenario is the Flames head into the season and see how things go. Same strategy as last year, really. If he has a good season, I’d still be confident they can get a first for him down the road. They could also resign him but I think they’ll handle this one similar to Toffoli. There may be an extension on the table but I suspect the Flames will hold firm on term. If Kuzmenko wants 6,7,8 years, he might be barking up the wrong tree.

Kuzmenko is currently a 50 point guy who broke 70 points once. There’s zero reason to sign him this offseason to a 6 year contract.
Brouwer, Neal, and Frolik etc left the Flames in a spot where they had to bridge Tkachuk. Why keep adding to the problems they have in Kadri and Huberdeau.

The issue with Kuzmenko is age more than performance. I’m not sure it’s clear what Kuzmenko is at the NHL level yet, but I also don’t want the Flames to commit money to a guy who will be turning 30 in the first year of whatever deal he signs.

If you can get him for 3-4 years and under $6M then sure, but it may be hard to convince him to give up UFA for that

After seeing the implications of Huberdeau and Kadri contracts I'm kind of stunned that some Flames fans think handing a guy Kuzmenko anything more than 3/4 years is a good idea especially based of an extremely small sample size with the team. Then you have some fans that want to trade Andersson. A guy that's been a career flame and has been a quality player for the organization. Weird times to be a part of this forum.

I don’t mind keeping Kuzmenko if it means Huberdeau gets going because of him. Otherwise, no. He is still TDL bait for me. And if we do keep him then we need to seriously sell Mangiapane and/or Backlund.

It’s time to put players like Pelletier, Zary, Coronato, and Pospisil in PK and defensive zone start scenarios so they can start learning. The players I mentioned needing to be traded aren’t getting any younger.

I could see Mangiapane to Buffalo being a good fit.
They have some great prospects and not enough space to play them. Perhaps we could pry one out of their hands with a sweetener?

I think it could work for both sides. Buffaloes second for eat bread? Dont think the flames were the only ones that noticed the chemistry between the two on the ice. A motivated eat bread is a good player.
